Hello its the new self appointed udon map wanna be moderator.theres loads of articals that have been posted on the general forum that have nothing to do with udon.why get your tartan knickers in a twist over this one claiming its right wing,unless your one of those library,snowflakes that are popping up all over the place.

Whilst I accept that it’s in the wrong section (mods please move if it’s appropriate to do so) there’s nothing right wing about my post and it’s certainly not claptrap, it’s of huge interest to some people who come from London or are concerned about the way it’s going. Also, it was quite funny to see it being described as fake news, unfortunately it isn’t, it’s 100% the truth.

It is fake news Vince because the real story here is not crime in London but the remarkable job that Bill de Blasio has done in New York at reducing crime in the city.
Incidentally, one of the policies he introduced to New York was the ceasing of 'stop & search' that you seem so in favour of..

The FACT is the murder rate in London is higher than in New York for the first time in 200 years, whatever the reason, whoever did what it’s FACT. Yes I support stop and search and coincidentally so do my friends who are policemen, they can’t think of any other way of getting the knives off of the street.

In March yes London had 1 more murder than New York, in 2018 so far New York has had 1 more murder than London.

Neither is an earth shattering fact. What is amazing that New York have managed to reduce the number of murders so dramatically over the last few years & how they have managed to do that.

I would have thought that anyone who was genuinely interested (rather than wished to make a political point) would have wanted to know how they managed that.
Or, if they felt that an American solution could not cross the channel, then look at what Glasgow are doing on the same front with similar effectiveness.

On the other hand it might just be easier to blame a Mayor who you don't like...

No big deal all things being equal, but they're not equal. One city has no guns, and they're stride for stride with NYC when it comes to murders.

I guess it really is people to blame for the objects they choose to kill -- and not the objects alone.

Bob you're boring me witless now, in the grand scheme of things it's very unlikely the rest of the world is wrong and Bob is right, you can piss and whine but for the first time in 200 years for whatever and why ever and yes to me it's important, even one murder is important.
