It's the fact they seem to think a whistle makes them important and it actually matters as u say status most cars have sensors and mirrors. On the subject of parking I was in Taiwatsada yesterday morning car park completely empty coming back with my trolley a woman drove in and parked right next to my car. I was gobsmacked my drivers side had a gap of 4-5 inches. I shot her a look and pointed she walked into the shop had to clime over passenger side wtf

There's a term for it: โชว์พา = shopow or, show power.

They do it to each other, too. Establishing dominance over others is very important to them. It also explains why they drive like lunatics.

โซว์พาว however does seem to be a word? i see it
as a promotional phrase for motorsport co's but
I'm not enough of a linguist to understand it

It's Thai slang and probably won't be in a dictionary, but it is a word that's used informally. It's in the title of this video which demonstrates a Thai establishing dominance over another. Have a look:

I had to chuckle at the OP, move to a foreign country and then get upset with how the locals behave, Thais like a good time and they like to party and play loud music its their way of enjoying themselves, I like to see and hear the music and concerts and everything else that goes on in Thailand and as far as I am concerned when I am in Thailand I accept the people and culture for what it is

Try joining in the fun and enjoy yourself, I have been to many concerts and other village activities and not only do I enjoy them, I have always been made very welcome.
The Chinese contractor I am supervising here in Burma just donated a big farkorff karaoke system to their local labor and they've set it up in their open-air dining stable here in the middle of camp.

This will NOT end well.

I think "establishing dominance over another" was simply called bullying when I were a pup.

There was a fight at the Toronto high school where I work yesterday. A Grade 9 girl hit a Grade 12 girl right in the kisser, and flattened her.

Ive just remembered , actually i was reminded . A few years ago a young Thai guy behind us got in a habit of coming home drunk at midnight and thought it a good idea to play his music loud for a few hours .
One night i had enough , so instead of confronting him , and wasting my time trying to reason with a drunk . I waited till it finally went quiet , then i proceeded to let off a loud firework every fifteen minutes for the next 3 hours . Never had a problem with him since , except when he had a wedding party there , which was fair enough .

Yes, 747man's shaking house might have come from the many local teenagers getting some rumpy.

What you need is high wall adjacent to your property to help deaden the sound
