beef is 250 baht a kilo, pork is 140 (Nongwasaw market prices). You buy guts, you buy tenderloin, you buy the hoof, it's all the same price.
Can anyone explain this? Prices do vary a bit in the supermarkets and at our local fresh market there is also a small price difference for some cuts, but as you said, many places sell everything at the same price. This has always been a mystery to me. Perhaps it just the difference between Western and Eastern perception of what constitutes a preferred cut. I'm rather partial to loin and shoulder and the prices are right.

It is much cheaper to satisfy your eating needs of roast lamb or beef at one of the better local restaurants that serve Sunday Roasts....
555...good one... some over or under cooked cold beef/lamb? , the problem in most restaurants if we can call them so is baking anything like it is supposed to be , most resto owners here do not have a clue or even have a cooking degree...
but the trend is rent a place throw in some cheap furniture/decoration and start sell some (frozen) food....
i think udon is short of really good eating places , one of the reasons we always eat (better) at home , also many times we are disappointed about the quality compared to the too high prices including the drinks ,udon is starting to be extravagant expensive ...more expensive than other more known tourist areas....an other reason to eat at home .... ;)

My wife goes to the market and buys a kilo of good pork loin. Then a kilo of ground pork for the dogs. Same price for each kilo. t.i.t.

read this link about half way in and you will see the Price of Beef in Australia last week, and compared with local seafood etc

Thats why Tops and Villa have expensive Australian Beef.

I noticed in Villa Today - 1500 /Kg for Oz sirloin

Good story a good many years ago I remember going out in a dingy off Altona into the bay every one caught flat head and threw them back they were plentiful, how the times have changed I love them to eat.

Tahan Rd between the Fountain and Prince Prajak Circles (UM S-17) gets my vote

Beef cuts menu and prices in English with a number so you can order quite easy.

No fresh lamb in Udon.

Gourmet Meats a sponsor on UM has many cuts of lamb.
