yamaha scooter dealer (best price)

Post by vainiac » February 28, 2010, 7:21 pm

hello,

there are so many yamaha motorcycle dealers in and around udon. i plan to buy a yamaha nouvo "elegance" 135cc in cash soon. a dealer near the complex said their nouvo 135cc bikes price was 53,000 (spoke wheels) and 56,000 (alloy wheels). the motorcycle.in.th website says the suggested retail for this bike is 55,000. as i prepare for this purchase, some questions come to mind:

* any suggestions on particular dealers known to give a low price?
* where am i likely to get the best deal, at a dealer in udon or maybe one outside udon (such as on the road to nong khai)?
* is a cash purchase likely to get me some percentage discount?
* what percentage of suggested retail price can you usually negotiate down to, 1%, 5%, 10, etc?

thank you for your suggestions.

van

i visited the yamaha dealer near the complex again. i was wrong about their prices. the price of the spoked and alloy wheel models are 1,000 less than i stated above. actual prices are 52,000 and 55,000 instead.

another question came to mind. which dealers allow you to take a scooter for a test drive?

thanks,
van

A friend bought a Yamaha Elegance at the shop you mention, paid cash. No discounts but got some freebies out of it (helmet, shirt some other small stuff). It's my understanding that the price of motorbikes are seldom negotiable and very rare to find a dealer that offers test drives. Any MB you're interested in buying you may have to rent or borrow from a friend to test drive. BTW, my friend also mentioned he got excellent service from that particular shop when he brought in for maintenance covered under the warranty.

If you are interested in saving some money, I have a Nouvo for sale. I bought it a year ago, but then was in the USA for 6 months of the past year, so has only 5000 km on it. 080-7609761 It is in like new condition. Could be a win-win for us.

Love my Nouvo! Good power, speed and handling.

Solid bike with great, inexpensive servicing. Would recommend it to anyone with a larger frame like my own.

We're trying to help advise a neighborhood family with the purchase of a small 125ccish motorcycle. I've checked prices on www.motorcycle.in.th, but the info appears to be from Jan 2010. I'd welcome any info from folks who have recently purchased in Udon.....where, model, price, financing, customer relations, product satisfaction.
You can post here or pm me if you like.

I bought a Ryuku 125 motorcycle (Zongshen) from Mod Daeang (Red Ant) on Posri Road. It's an El Cheapo Chinese copy of a Honda Phantom. A snip at 38,000 baht, but had the chrome bars put on and the saddlebags, which bought it up 41,000.
No discount for cash, I paid the ticket price, lots of freebies, helmet, teeshirt, cleaning kit. I prefer it over a scooter, it has much better handling, with Showa shocks at the front, not one tiny spring at the back like on a few scooters. OK for a tiny Thai college girl, but for a heavy farang you will bottom out the suspension going over the many potholes in Udon.
I'm happy with my purchase, just took a long time to get the plates. 6 months.

Can't tell you still running it in, as for fuel consumption no idea, just go to the old lady outside the moobaan and get a few bottles of benzine 91.

Try calling the dealers they should know, or are you based in the UK.

Big C were selling them not so long ago and so they were on display- 2 different models, but the one Prenders has looked by far the better of the two.
