Change Green book owners name

Post by vidmaster » January 31, 2017, 8:53 am

Hi
Can anyone tell me where I go to change name of owner & what other documents I need to take with me as proof etc
Also how much does it cost
I'm also thinking of changing the colour of the bike, will that be easy to get changed in the green book?
Thanks

I'll talk about the color change. When I had my bad get off, I decided to change my bike color from black to pearl white. The Thai guy that did the color change also took my green book down and got that sorted. As I recall, changing the bike color and getting the book sorted was less than $100 USD.

BTW, I had all kinds of horror stories about how challenging it was to do a color change and get the book changed. That was not my experience, but I also did not try to do it myself.

you can get the needed papers (2) at the official car check points (free of charge) , the ones where you have to go to check the +7year old car before paying tax every year , the buyer will also need a copy of the owners id card and blue (or yellow)homebook, and we also make a sales agreement...with these documents the new owner can put the bike/car on his name in his local transportation office , they will need to see the vehicle also to check the chassisnumber...good luck... ;)

You also need a letter from Immigration (500 THB)
Hi Gar
Can you confirm that the $100 included the cost of the respray & all administration formalities

You'll need a bill of sale from whoever you bought it off. Thai? .... Make sure you have a copy of their CURRENT ID card and address that matches the green book. Farang? ... copies of their passport, proof of address (house book or letter from Immigration) copies of visas and departure card.
If you have all these you shouldn't have any probs.
If the bike is registered outside of your province (Udon) The laws have changed for farangs from last Feb.! You can't as a farang OWN a vehicle that's registered in a different province to the one you live in???
e.g. 5 months and 7 applications to keep the number on a Harley so I wouldn't lose the 999 Bkk number ... went in the wife's name to sort it in the end and she can't even ride a Honda Click!!!
If you don't care about the number then it should be a simple and quick process at the local transport office.
I did a Honda 750 Super Magna from Chiang Rai to an Udon plate in 40 mins the other year!

Change of colour can be done at the same time as change of registration. Failing that .... modifications are dealt with by inspection at the transport office about 9Km's out of Udon on the Khon Kean rd, right hand side, purple building. Make an appointment ;-)

Cost goes on the taxable value of the bike!
฿3000 for a Harley
฿1000 for a Honda 750
I think you get a refund for a wave!!!! 5555555555555
Naw ... just kidding .... prob about ฿300 ;-)

I have a yellow book and a pink ID card, so I don't worry about the Residence Certificate anymore.

Yes, from what I recall, I paid 2000 for the tank, fairing, and front fender, and another 1000 to take care of the green book change. Prices in Thailand are variable, so it may be more, or less for you. I think it may depend on the phase of the moon, and how many days to the next Bhudda Day. :-)

It came from the factory as a black bike.
