Not sure what size area you want to spike but if it is a large area try looking at the golf course equipment suppliers in Thailand, TruTurf make one I have seen used on Golf Courses back home, or try the local golf courses, maybe the green keepers could assist where they got there's from.

I've used the tool in the photo to aerate small pieces of lawn.....added benefit, if you see a cobra, you can aerate that as well. Sold in most all garden-type markets. Attach to a long piece of bamboo pole. Cheap.

We lived in Texas before coming here. The soil was clay and caliche....very difficult (impossible) to dig with standard gardening tools. One day, in the middle of trying to dig a large hole for a new tree, I took a break and watched a gardening show (British) in the comfort of my living room and a cold beer. The chap took his shovel and with the least amount of effort dug deep into the soil. Earthworms emerged by the handful. A standard aerator would work well in that sort of soil......but not sure about the soil here.

I too was full of keeping a nice lawn etc when i first came here , but unless your are going to keep it well watered & depending on the type of soil you'll be lucky if you can break through with a JCB never mind a little hand rolling aerator , as the heat settles in the ground becomes like concrete , my lawn suffered as i was forced back to working , you need plenty of free time and water to achieve a good lawn, best of luck

Thanks for all the replies its much appreciated.. it is looking like I will have to improvise or take the sportsbars advise and look at golf course suppliers... they should know!

Hoopoe your right!! I am finding a LOT of time is needed to achieve a good lawn and I cannot let any of the brothers look after it, there would be nothing left of it  its sort of enjoyable in a weird way... therapeutic .. wife thinks I am nuts the amount of time I spend messing with it..... but will get there in the end

Wazza you need to be heavy under foot to make them penetrate the lawn correctly. Do you know anyone?
I've just lost a heap of excess to requirement body weight. So Im out.
Unfortunately a 60 kg Thai wont cut it.
