Yes I agree with what your saying,we farang can use this road and it is safer for us but Thais are another story.speeding tail gaters in the outside lane are going to get caught out.the first part of the central barrier from udon has no weep holes at the bottom, then some half way through the job has decided are needed or forgot in the first place.also the holes are way too small and blocking up with debris as I write.we can only wait and see when it's all complete and people can go full blast on soi Monaco as I shall name it.mickojak wrote:I have just driven that road a dozen times over the last week and despite all the negativity, i think it is a massive improvement. Those trouble areas with the stripes are easy to see from distance and at night.
Best things.
No motorbikes and took tooks driving up the wrong side of the road looking for an option to duck across the traffic.
No speeding vehicles coming towards me in my lane while they are overtaking.
No option to take a quick right hand turn from the left lane.
Cutouts in the dividing wall for pedestrians to cross but they must step up in the wall making them easy to see and does not give motorbikes the option of going through there.
New line marking started yesterday.
Even though it inconveniences me by forcing me to go a couple of ks out of the way to get home, i give the road a big thumbs up and i will feel heaps better when my wife is driving on it

Re: Non Wau Sor News
I went out to the 'hidden lake' near Nong O the last day of Songkran and noted these new traffic hazards on 210. I think they seriously need to repaint the lane lines since they appear to have (mostly) widened the hard shoulder where the central reservation has been widened but the existing lane markers exists, making for the rapidly narrowing of the 'fast lane'.
Regarding the drinking and driving habits of the Nong Wua So'ans, We drove a fair ways down 2315 and there was pretty much a police check point with stop signs in the middle of the road and roadside tents every 2 km or so, a lot more numerous than any other roads i have driven on.

Your 2 days are up.stereolab wrote:Bearing in mind that very few locals will use the left hand lane, I would give it 2 days at most before someone takes off over the kerb into a lamp post. ....
How did it go?

Mrs just told me she's read about a crash on soi Monaco yesterday. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php? ... 5277961016
Re: Non Wau Sor News
I was driving in this area about 10 days ago and the new road layout is very dangerous.
Half the outside lane just disappears.Driving at night or at speed,I dread to think what the consequences could be.....no black and white paint will change that.

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

No awards for accurate James-Bond-Launch predictions........but a Pajero did hit the median and launch.....lucky no one died. Happened near the watermelon curve

I didn't know they had cameras along that stretch of soi Monaco.the mrs showed me another crash a couple of days ago.thats 3 I've heard of so far.the launch pad seems to be working now.
Re: Non Wau Sor News
I mentioned that before but in hindsight, since when have the local drivers paid much attention to white lining?minimiglia wrote:should be ok now as they have at last done the new white lining, which should have be done first, absolute morons and should be sacked totally incompitent?
In a lot of countries, they put up signs warning of any "New road layout ahead." Do you think that would work in LOS? Maybe they already do it here (I don't read Thai) so maybe just another unavoidable aspect of the locals 'me first' driving attitude coupled with their total lack of spacial awareness... and lack of activity of any sort by what passes for the Highway Police.

To most Thai all the painting, markings on the roads are just to brighten up what would be a boring black road.they haven't grasped the colour of traffic lights yet let alone road markings.one step at a time but they'll get there..one day.

Well I did wonder if it was to tow wrecks to out of the traffic flow. :-"Or maybe a few food stalls to supply passing motorists/JR wrote:Trubrit, the first pic shows new motorbike parkings.
