As I understand it, there were 3 on the scooter. One survived.

As one child obviously didn't die might I suggest the misleading topic title is amended.
As Lone Star has noted.

2 killed. 3 were on the bike and 1 survived and as this thread notes in detail is out of ICU and into the recovery ward.

Coverage of this has been very widespread. Perhaps brush up on it more in depth before invoking editorial controls to the quite accurate thread title.

Yes thank you to the mod who changed the topic title to it's now , more correct version of two persons not two children. Not a question of invoking editorial controls simply to avoid any confusion,so let me clarify it was the mother and son who died , the nephew was the survivor .
Things ain't what they used to be.

I've just made a small contribution to this cause.

Thanks to Liam and everyone else who have been involved.
I hope, as a group of foreigners, we can help support this kid and the families involved.
I know it was none of our fault, but a small contribution from all will go a long way to helping our own lives here in Thailand.
Every little bit helps.

Such a sad story.

So I guess the culprit is going to jail then, otherwise why isn't he made to contribute a few million baht

Those negotiations are usually conducted between the victims, the accused and the police. I'm sure the accused has quite a bit on his plate and will paying in many ways -- not just financially.

Just to follow up on the fundraising campaign for Wach, I saw this posted on another forum site today which represents the net amount raised off the WEEBON donation website:

"I'm pleased to post a copy of Wach's bank book details showing a deposit of 50,000 (maximum one time) and 8,153.30. ALL was with him 6/7 but Mum went off to a temple for the holiday!

First stage complete. When his face ok.. I will sort press photo with him".

It is my understanding that the Just Giving Donation site will close out on July 23rd and an amount of approximately 25,000 THB less website fees will be deposited to Wach's account, and evidence of that deposit will be posted.

I also understand that the good folks at Udon-News will be dropping off around 5,700 THB sometime tomorrow, and that will be deposited into Wach's account as well. I will attempt to post notices of those deposits when they are announced.

I picked up this post today off another forum website which updates the giving and turning over of monies to Wach:

12/7 Went to see Wach today - Do the ceremonial photo thing even tho the plastic show cheque was the wrong amount n date! Doesn't matter.
He is still feeding liquid through his nose tho. Another month of that fun I'm sure.

I had planned to take the pics when he looked better, but candidly I will lose press momentum for the Thai/Farang communities if I leave it for now. There will surely be more road deaths for all the reasons that they happen.

Members of Udon-News came here today.. handed over another 6,270. Very good of them. I rounded it up so that I could transfer $185 to Just Giving.. and have a neat $900 so far.

I sensed more depression in Wach today. Fed up.. totally understandable. Said I would be back in a month when he COULD eat ice cream. And MAYBE we take a 50 metre ride along Sitaron at 5mph. That's going to be a difficult hurdle for him.
Here's the pics for today. Drop mic..

I picked up this post today off another forum website which updates the giving and turning over of monies to Wach:

Friday the 14th - Thought we might close this campaign with a whimper, but in fact we are closing it with a bang as a last minute drop of 10,000 baht has been made by members of Udon Thani VFW POST 10249. Their motto says it all really: "Honor the Dead by Helping the Living". Its a good shout.

It brings the Just Giving total to $1,175 and a bit of ice cream cash because I got the math slightly wrong when I did the payment to JG from Udon with the exchange rate.

So.. that's it now - We leave the boy in peace to heal, and the process of Just Giving money winding its weary way through the www and into Wach's wadge.

A big shout out to all the community here and donors from around the world. Sadly people will continue to die on the roads of Thailand, but I sincerely hope never again under such disastrous circumstances. In a month I'll pop pics of hopefully a smiling Wach clutching ice cream.

Liam Dale standing down.
