Need to show Baht on arrival into Thailand

Post by wazza » July 19, 2017, 1:56 pm

Lots of comments in social media and other sites on the need to show 20,000 baht when entering Thailand on some immigration zones.

" Reports have surfaced on social media of foreigners being refused entry for not having Bt20,000 in cash when entering Thailand.

One person even claimed that they were rejected even with proof of hotel bookings, details of an onward flight, and bank statements.
News portal Thaivisa has learnt that immigration officials at a number border checkpoints across Thailand are asking some people entering the country on a tourist visa to produce Bt20,000 in cash. ( almost £500 )

To be a bit more precise, some people with evidence of a history of multiple entries to Thailand spread over several Tourist visas have been asked to show 20,000 baht cash or the equivalent in other currencies.

The 'big' Thai forum has twigged to the TWO reported incidents being good for a dedicated, rip-snorting, guaranteed, revenue-earning thread that's having all the stress-monkeys, digital pikeys and habitual farang malcontents (you know who you are) getting their panties in a bunch.
