Where to find a decent Sunday roast?

Post by udonsmiles » September 10, 2017, 2:33 pm

So where can I find a decent Sunday roast in Udon these days? Was horribly disapointed where I went today and left most of my meal. Just glad I didn't bring the family ..........

The best I've come across so far is the T Bar.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

They are on the printed Udon map as a sponsor.
From Tesco Lotus to the airport on the ring road and they are on the right hand side about 200 meter before traffic lights.
Junction one before the airport with honda bigwing. If you see honda bigwing on your right you have gone to far. its about 400 meters before

If I can post Goggle links here as the map does not load for me.

I did not think the Yorkshire pudding where very good at Tbar. They may have had an off day as they were more like pancakes than Yorkshires.
Chris offers A mix of Meats, Tbar might but I was not offered.
No stuffing with my chicken at Tbar
Roast spuds were slight under cooked at Tbar for my liking
Tbar does a better gravy though

Yeah since your UM ID is from 2009 and you even knew Steve of "Steve's Bar" before he passed away,

post190020.html#p190020

and you already know T-Bar Steve enough to wish him healthy recovery in 2016, it seems logical you'd know about his Sunday roasts?

Or was it to drum up business for whichever one might not be a sponsor at the mo?

If you didn't know about them, alas you will enjoy.

Same with Chris' Bar. Good stuff.

Chris's Bar is the best for the selection & taste plus the Yorkshire puds are the best in Udon - thanks to Andy the chef =D>

I have had Sunday roasts at both bars many times.
It is hard to say which is better in my opinion.

The vegetables are better at Chris place as T bar does crunchy veg's but Chris/Andy does soft vegetables.
I personally do not like crunchy vegetables.

The yorkshires are as good in both places.

The gravy is better in T Bar.

The selection of meats is better in T Bar as they also have Lamb Shanks on the every day Menu plus many more selections which Chris does not have
.
Chris sometimes runs out of lamb or does not have it on the menu as I found out once.
You can order a selection of roasts at Chris bar but at a Premium price.

The price is also a lot better in T Bar.

During one holiday season we managed to eat roast at both places on a Sunday drunken beer run about town, they are on opposite parts of the ring road so just call it it Roast location West and Roast location East.

Chris' is a proper bar first and foremost so we hit that second and then onto Western Pub etc etc.

Mind the police drink/drive testing checkpoints on ring road by roast location East.

Sorry to burst your logic bubble jimjay but happy to give you something to pass your time away with 8)

I knew Steve when he was at the Clock but haven't been to wherever he is now.

Just looking for a Sunday roast, no other motive and thanks again for those who replied.

This pains me slightly because I really have a lot of time for Steve & Mali, they're among the nicest people I've met in Thailand and I'd usually go there to eat. However, today I went to Chris's Place for Sunday lunch, it's no secret that Andy the chef there is very good and I was expecting a nice dinner. What can I say? The Sunday roast here is absolutely superb, myself and the missus both had the mixed meats roast and I've got to say, it was the best Sunday dinner I've had in a long time, certainly the best I've had in Udon. The meat was lovely and moist, the roast potatoes nice and crispy, the veg cooked exactly how I like them and a very nice Yorkshire pud to boot. The other bonus here was Fuller's London Pride on tap, I had a few to make sure I liked it and I'm happy to report that hit the mark too. Well done Andy and Chris, we had a wonderful lunch and we'll be back very soon. If you haven't tried this place yet I'd highly recommend you give it go.

Things aren't going too well so far, Billic hasn't got Payet to fall back on and statto is quite right, I'd be doing a better job than Hart, it's embarrassing watching him boot a ball ffs. Thank heavens I have my Sunday dinner at Chris's Place and a few pints of LONDON PRIDE to help me get over the pain. Chris is a top bloke, he had this made up for me, I wrapped it up in a newspaper like a dirty mag in case anyone saw it.
