10 rifles were found in his room.Fully agree with you statts won't change the prehistoric thinking of Americans who feel the right to arm themselves and in Nevada allowed to walk around carrying a gun. Move on till the next Mass shooting.

I watch the news every day and this kind of news is a weekly event on the world stage. Lots of different ways to hurt lots of people if your so inclined. Hard to say what kind of evil demons or affiliations were in this guys head. Reportedly he had a Asian girlfriend possibly that makes it relevant to Udonmap.

Coincidentally my younger daughter has a holiday booked to the States including Xmas eve in New York and New Years eve in Las Vegas. She is widely traveled and her attitude is "Like everything, it's the luck of the draw" and not thinking about changing her plans.

My condolences to these poor people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time and it's a sorry state of affairs from many perspectives but, no matter what, crap will happen and can happen to any of us at any time, any where.

I just heard on the news that dude had 23 weapons in his room....WTF! seriously? I love guns as much as the next guy but 23 in your hotel room.... why? it makes no sense from a tactical standpoint unless its just plain old delusional crazy. Non gun people would not understand this but unless the weapons were the same frame how could you keep all your sh+t straight trying to run 23 different weapons in the dark. So much about this story is just bat sh+t crazy he shoots up a country music venue ....ok seems like a normal target if the guy is a Islamic radical or a nut job leftist or something like that, but so far he' been portrayed as some normal white dude with no political affiliations. Ok call me skeptical at this point there is much more to this story. The gun control debate could and should wait, honestly the fact just are not in yet.

I'm more interested in why this punk decided to do this than the gun control angle. I understand he had enough dosh to try other things in his life.

He could have moved to Cambodia or Thailand for some fun. He could have moved to Hawaii and learned to surf, joined a gym, joined a mosque or church etc. It's a really weird thing to do at his age (64). As is that weapon collection.

The perp remains a bit of a mystery. He seems to have been living a fairly good life. What went wrong?

I think the police took him out amazingly quickly. Just as bloody well.

Back on topic.

The FBI are seeking help from anyone with getting a handle on what made the shooter do what he did.

I suggest they listen to the voiceover on the embedded video on the homepage of the biggest bump stock manufacturer for a clue.

The perp seems different from the run of the mill spree killer - e.g. older, in a relationship, financially well off, enjoying casino supplied call girls:

I suppose his emotional life was more similar to these dreadful losers.

Sent this on Facebook, not sure how much of it is true but IF he converted to Islam it might explain why.

so Vegas was down to pizzlam again......TERROR IN LAS VEGAS - BREAKING UPDATE: New evidence suggest that convert to Muslim terrorist Stephen Paddock was not alone in the hotel room: ● A cell phone charger that does not match any of the devices that belonged to the terrorist ● A hotel record showing that one of Paddock’s key cards was used to access his room while his car was outside of the hotel’s parking garage ● He took 20 cruises, including stops in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates ● Marilou Danley accompanied him on 9 of the cruises ● ISIS tripled down on their claim that Vegas shooter converted to Islam 6 months ago and carried out the terror attack.
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

I read a report that stated, "Paddock was on Valium after a bad investment drove him crazy"
Paddock is believed to have been devastated after missing out on quadrupling his fortune.

He switched his property portfolio - then worth £4million-£6Million from California to Texas in the mid 2000s because he wanted to live in a low tax state with no rent control and relaxed gun laws. But the market flatlined in his Dallas suburb, while in the liberal area of California he had left it rose 300 percent. "I think that really drove him crazy" said his former estate agent.

I have edited this thread. Posts about gun control have been moved to a new thread called, oddly enough, "Gun Control." Posts which merely discussed other members have been removed.

For the record, and since there seems to be some misinformation on this topic, advertisers are treated the same as all other posters, the only exception being in their own sponsor threads. Elsewhere in Udon Map, advertisers' posts are subject to the same rules as those of all other posters.

One report I read suggested he'd recently had a mental health meltdown. In recent years he doesn't seem to have been that connected to people. Hanging out for long periods in casinos can't be good for you.

When he was building his wealth through property investment and management he seems to have been connected enough to do that with considerable skill.
