build your wall not on perimeter land but 1-2 m inside , later you can walk on your land around the premises without your neighbor complaining , any waste/rain water pipes true your wall will come out on your land so again no complaints from idiot (sometimes)neighbors possible , we have done this all ready a few times , land was filled up 1.20m high
all this if your land is big enough anyway ... ;)

I have raised land.im going to have a front wall and gates then concrete posts and chain link fence at 1.2 metres high to the sides and rear and will be 1.8 metres from the outside.a lot cheaper and I'll grow up the fence.also any movement in the posts can be rectified easily.a wall is an expensive job and if it moves you'll have big problems as it'll all move.also if a monkey or two want to get over wether wall or fence they will do.plus water will just find lower land and you keep all your land,a 2 metre boundary around 1 rai is 400sqm and what with the price of land and the price of a wall.again if you leave a boundary the neighbours will just grow on it and he'll have no fury like a Thai neighbour who upset by a farang.ive got it with a farmer now on a property.they plant right up to my wall and each crop they lower their land and my wall footing is exposed.try offering them some trucks of free soil but they think I'm trying to claim their land.

Not yet...we have a little hiccup over land, as wife's parents land does not have good title, so we are looking to purchase one that has. Have a plot in mind and would redeem bank mortgage on it...BUT they need to sort out with owner (and daughter about the interest accumulated......

Hi all.

Wife and I are ready to build a bungalow (single story) in Kut Chap (about 20klm west of Udon). We are financially conservative ie not the cheapest but certainly not the best.! We would love to hear from anyone who has built any house in this area, especially if they can recommend a builder! :D We are not in a hurry, but recommendations from satisfied customers count a lot.

Im building in nong wua so.first thing, your out in the sticks and it will take longer than you think.second is cost, things may be a lot more than you anticipate anything of quality is usually imported and taxed to high heaven.third don't pay up front, you'll never see them again.as for recommending a builder.well there's a few in the uk I know but out here is a different ball game.my budget went 25% over and I'm a builder.i think the best way of having a home here is to sit back and wait and find a farang who's had enough and wants to sell up and go.ive seen people selling their property half the price they have built it for.anyway good luck and think deeply about it.

hi there, for a villas project on Koh Samui Island, we're looking for BRICKLAYERS for formwork, concrete, brickwork / white brick /, brickwork wall plastering, and also for TILE WORKERS (tiles, pavers, sandwash floor). The working period: 3 weeks of work, 1 week of a holiday. We provide an accommodation and a back way ticket (airplane, bus) from the week holiday. We'll be glad for any recommendations of a good qualified smaller company. Thanks for any reply!
