For the winners you have to look no further than the current world champions,GERMANY,unfortunately.
With the tournament being played in Europe I think you can discount the South American teams.
Belgium have a very strong squad, with around 11 Premiership regulars, and it would be nice to see them win but I think they will fall just short, along with Spain who seem to lack firepower upfront in the main tournaments nowadays.
Just sayin' ;)

Germany WILL NOT win 2 WC's on the bounce ..... Sane will probably be injured by then, and Ozil will have already got his move so no need for him to "break sweat" (something he is very good at :-$ ) Rudiger will be knackered after a season playing the "Conte way" Neuer is showing plenty of signs that he is not the keeper he once was. Muller, Gotze, Kroos & Hummels are no where near their best, so unless there are half a dozen Wunderkids waiting in the wings it's Quater finals at best I think (unless they get England in last EIGHT)

PS Udon map will not let me type the number 8 in the above

I don't understand the bit about rabbits, but I'm sure it must be a joke.
Anyway, my prediction for the world cup are the current European champions, Portugal.

Nah Statts just having a giggle. The Poms will win the soccer world cup - walk in the park. Surprised none of the wise men on here don't have any confidence in the sporting abilities of their countrymen to go all the way in Putinland. And more to the point - Any you poms watching the cricket in Adelaide? It's only me Barn and Wazza making a contribution over on that thread. You're a lay down misere over there too \:D/ \:D/

I thought that I had put the games schedule up, but I have not.. :(
So here they are - click to expand photo.
Russia is such a large country that the games are played over a couple of different time zones.
Wikipedia have kindly shown the local time the games are being played & then shown how that relates to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Thailand is 7 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.

I presume by this you mean GMT, Bob. :D
What the hell is 'Coordinated Universal Time' (CUT) or UTC, or however you want to re-arrange the letters?

Sorry Adhoc the rest of the world no longer use GMT - probably as it implies that London is the centre of the world.. :D
While that was undoubtedly true during Queen Victoria's time it is certainly no longer the case
As the pieces I copied quoted UTC I thought that it might be a little confusing to say GMT... :D

Apart from that though.....you are correct.. :D

If you look at it Longitudinally GMT = 0 DEG. Anything away from that is either EAST or WEST So I'd say London is STILL Fairly CENTRAL. GMT = UT = Universal Time. UNIVERSAL, MEANS?

If they want to play these silly tournaments in out of the way places, they should be reminded that ALL matches must kick off at 15:00 SFT (Standard Footy Time) UK, viz a viz 9pm Udon Thani. If that means a 02:00 hrs local time kick off then so be it. =; If they want to play OUR game, they play it by OUR rules or else we will take our ball home .... so there

"The official abbreviation for Coordinated Universal Time is UTC. It came about as a compromise between English and French speakers. Coordinated Universal Time in English would normally be abbreviated CUT. Temps Universel Coordonné in French would normally be abbreviated TUC."

If it's got anything to do with CUTs and the TUC I bet Maggie Bl**dy Thatcher had something to do with it

""EXPERT"" PREDICTIONS for the winners of the FIFA 2018 World Cup so far ..... feel free for UMs football gurus to add their choices .
DM .......Belgium
Statts ... Spain
Adhoc ... Spain

expect mats prediction when and only when he knows EXACTLY who is in every squad and what their form is during the pre tourney friendlies.

To me. the standout team, (squad) is obviously BELGIUM; although I DON'T expect them to win!!! :-s . Brazil would be my second choice. Given the venue, and political backdrop, I will be amazed if the event proves to be without at least one major controversy, adversely affecting a West European team, and pleasantly surprised, if a West European team is 'allowed' to win the cup.
...........
Referencing Statts above comment, may I remind both he, and friend Zid, that, as expected, they both opted out of my challenge,( following their criticism of Southgate), to name THEIR choices for the English squad, AHEAD of Southgate's selection; such challenge to pre-empt their being able to 'second guess' him, AFTER he named his squad! [-X .
The second part of the challenge still remains to take up; if either of you fancy jumping off that fence, upon which you are perched. From Southgate's squad, post YOUR suggested starting formation, starting eleven and the seven substitutes you would have on the bench, for England's first group match, BEFORE Southgate announces his selection.
I wish all three of you the best of luck in your endeavours, but most particularly Southgate. Honestly, with the exception of three, maybe even four, players, I wouldn't have the faintest idea of whom to pick from what I consider a somewhat mediocre squad of players. :?

Not got the faintest who he will "select"

Just as long as he DOESN'T pick any of the following .......

Hart
Stones
Young
Lallana
Wilshire
Livermore
Henderson

Just hope he holds the prev "gun" to James Milners head and gets him out of retirement [-o<
