Bangkok Hospital has had a sleep clinic and specialist for a couple of years now. I'm not surprised the local hospital is pursuing it too. It is rather a cash cow particularly if a CPAP machine is purchased. They cost more than double what the same machine would cost Stateside. That said, I imagine the fees charged at Udon Hospital would be significantly lower than Bangkok Hospital..

No, the CPAP machine is overpriced no matter where purchased in-country.

I have 2 Phillips Dreamstations purchased via Amazon. If you can't have it shipped so Amazon handles customs clearance, then expect to pay about 3,000 thb "duty".

The best mask is the Phillips Pillow Mask. Hardly know it's there. Nothing at all like the previously posted picture.

Regarding the sleep clinic, it will be blah, blah, blah, use a CPAP. So, cut to the chase and maybe go afterwards, if still having issues.

Cheerios!

so that being the case, how do you determine the appropriate CPAP settings for your type of sleep problem?? The wife now refuses to use her CPAP because it works for perhaps an hour or two then starts blasting air continuously.. The tech at Bangkok Hospital adjusted the settings on it but it didn't help....

Probably an assessment by an ENT / Anaesthetist to rule out other causes of Sleep Aponea would be a good starting point.

Airway Obstructions, Abnormal Anatomy, Obesity, other Pulmonary Disease factors also. COPD etc

Not to mention the nasties like Narcolepsy

You can Google for the manual. The better models, such as my Dreamstations, are easily navigated and the computer inside continually adjusts and provides reports and charts feedback. Nirvana.

Just noticed this morning that they also have a new sleep clinic at the Army Hospital.

Would that be a similar sleep clinic to those offered in North Korean Army Hospitals? The ones you never actually wake up from?
