Sorry Milkman, your link does not work correctly, maybe something missing?
Re: Memories of the 50s
He had managed, somehow, to get an additional space in the URL.
I have fixed it & it should work now..

You only pass through this life once, you don't come back for an encore.

Thanks Bob! Well, did anybody love it? I loved all of it! And could You English and Germans relate?
Re: Memories of the 50s
Obviously American orientated, it was all so different in the UK. We still had food rationing until '54, even then many items were either not available or in short supply, even then only available to the very rich. We didn't have any race problems, apart from a few Yankie soldiers we had never seen a black face outside of kiddies comic books . As for the ladies, well a quote from that time say's it all"1950's housewife has been prepared at school and home for her role in life. She took pleasure and pride in looking after home and family to the best of her ability. She didn't have a career outside the home and she had no income of her own , which left her dependent on her husband" Those were the days.
Don't get me going about the 30's and 40's.

Re: Memories of the 50s
Watched and couldn't really relate to very many people/things. These are those I knew
Roller skates
78 records
Woolies
Einstein
Transister radio
Lone Ranger/Tonto
Liz Taylor
Richard Burton
Photo Booth
Snakes & Ladders board
Air mail postage
Telephone/Booth
Esso petrol station & Stamps
VW Beetle
Elvis Presley
Maralyn Monroe
Pan American Airways
Underwood Typewriter
Potato Man
Nixon
One of the Marx bros
as for the others, they could have been anybody? Their "fame?" certainly didn't get as far as Essex
