Proof of Residence - Retirement Visa

Post by Brian Davis » February 15, 2018, 6:52 pm

Anyone know what Immigration requires as proof of residence, if somebody, applying for a retirement visa, is living out of e.g. hotel/resort accommodation(s), as opposed to a permanent/semi-permanent stay in a normal house?
Do hotels etc have the equivalent of the blue book (tabian baan), does the residence owner have to fill in TM? form ".... where alien has stayed", does the owner have to appear as a witness too? Thanks.

"eight pages of porno" it is then. But where would I know to find that? :-"
But, seriously, whilst I'm sure satisfying the financial requirement and that his/her computer doesn't start flashing when you put the applicant's name in, just trying to establish that it's not a big problem for anyone who hasn't established a base here yet.

It was a few years ago now but for my proof of residence all I took was a copy of my lease, in my name with my financial letter from the embassy to Jomtien and got my first residence visa. I still filled in the required paperwork, but no problems. Did not take girlfriend.
It might also help to go and ask, if still not sure.

Cheers

Get the form from immigration that details all requirements for a retirement visa, it certainly isn't rocket science.

I do actually think I know the answer, in that the applicant gets wherever he's staying at the time, albeit a few days, to fill in the information. I just wanted confirmation that the absence of a permanent or semi-permanent lodging wasn't a problem.
Ask Immigration? Did go in with my 'visitor' friend, but not entirely sure the officer understood my the query. In any event, from one office to another and even within a single office, you can get different answers!
The guidance form? Generally accurate, but not entirely. It still refers to having your Embassy letter verified by the MFA, which hasn't been enforced for some time. For my particular question, it refers to the house registration book, not applicable to my friend.

I am pretty certain that Joe (the manager of Ruy Suk) has done this in the past for his long term customers.
Might be worthwhile dropping by the new Ruy Suk (just off the ring road before Global House) & ask him.
He is a nice guy & very English proficient, so I am sure he would be willing to say exactly what he provides when asked..

Hi.If living out you need a 'Notification form for house master, owner or possessor of the residence where alien has stayed ' form available just inside the immigration office on the table when you walk in. Also copy signed of owners ID card and copy of lease and copy of owners house registration book. Worked for me for passed 8 years no problems. Hope this helps. ☺

Thanks Bob and Gentley for your helpful replies. I will pop into Ruk Suk. A lease? - fairly sure renting on a short-term basis (literally a week here, a week there) a lease wouldn't be signed, but I may be wrong.

Extracted from current topic "Top Ten Hard Truths...." -"There’s plenty of good information on the net about visas but, despite what you read, interpretation may be different on the day you visit the local office and depending who you end up speaking too."
