The bi-annual Udon Thani CAR WASH review

Post by tamada » May 4, 2017, 10:02 am

Good morning drivers,

Can we do a round-up of our favorite car wash stands around the city? When you quote prices, make sure you mention what size your ride is, ie. roller skate, SUV or pickup. Detail if they charge extra for anything or have the simple 3-tier system which tends to be the norm. No valeting, waxing and other noncing about, just a pressure wash, engine rinse (steam clean), rub down and good vacuuming of the inside. Also advise if they are heavy handed with the spritzers, polishes, wet-tire rubbish, oily plastic protectants all over the dashboard and seat or have to be advised NOT to use poofy scented stuff inside.

No advice needed on DIY services. I have a pressure washer and two pre-teen lads who get 20 baht each for the rudimentary washes and dry but about once a month, the sports lorry needs a bit more work done.

Thanks!
tam

With Udon Pit on your left, instead of making a hard left to go to the Napalai Hotel, go straight. Just past that fork, on the right hand side, 170 Baht for a 2 door spacecab Vigo, washed under thoroughly as well, lots of elbow gease, good cleaning inside, wheel shine, windows cleaned properly inside and out. Prices posted prominently

Thanks parrot, I will see if I can find that.

Note: please advise if they have a penchant to stick their car wash decal on your back window. There was a half decent one out the Nong Sai road (inside the driving school) that had a habit of 'personalizing' customers cars that way.

No stickers at your place parrot?

Worst thing to use when cleaning a car or motorbike is a pressure cleaner. A bucket of soapy water and rinsed at medium to low pressure with elbow grease.

I always use the Kwikclean at tesco lotus on the ring road.

They do use pressure cleaner, plus their branded products, you get to keep the remainder of the Tyre Black can etc, but you get a free interior polish can for the next return visit, Ok, its marketing, but professional IMO

Not the cheapest , 400 ? for the basic as T has highlighted

I used the old trick of leaving 20 baht under the floor mat to challenge their trusted employees etc, LOL, never got knicked

In Ban Leaum, there's a car wash place called " Banana", diagonally opposite the Caltex Gas Station.

300 baht for power wash, clean & vacuum inside, wheel shine...& exterior wax, dunno what wax is used. Really very good husband/wife set up.

Ok the bad news. They are so slow it's unbelievable. Normally takes 1:30 to do the job, & seating outside.

Also, there's "Team Captain" near Posri Market, on the LHS going towards the fire daeng.

Big place, about 4 bays for cleaning. There's a coffee shop there too, which sells snack food. And Beer!

200 baht for total inside/out clean. Wax is 600 baht extra.

The boss oversees all the work, & is a thoroughly pleasant man.

Always busy. Takes around 40 mins to do.

Recommended.

Timely resurrection of this thread... thanks Faraday.

The car wash on the Nong Sai road has already moved onto their own, larger premises and is still doing a decent job. I recall they have a 399 or 499 baht 'special' that gets the engine a steam clean, car a pressure wash and a thorough internal vacuum and wipe down. Air conditioned coffee shop on site. Plenty staff but on 'special' weekends, can take a few hours unless you get there early.

Hard to beat the car wash at the airport Big C - they do a great job and you can do the shopping while it's being cleaned
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

What a lazy lot you are! I clean my own car regularly, admittedly not sure if because it's a task I can make a fair job of, or meanness. :-k . I might invest in a 'professional' car wash if as below, but somehow think it might cost more than a few hundred baht!
