Thai Equivalent of a Postumas VC.

Post by vlad » July 10, 2018, 1:18 pm

In the UK we have a VC to honor the fallen hero's who gave there life for others. In my opinion the Thai Navy Seal deserves the highest accolade a country can be bestow on him for giving his life in saving the Boy's live's in the cave Rescue.
Also all foreign rescue workers should be given special recognition with the two British Specialist's given the highest praise as there skill and undoubted Bravery were displayed for all the world to see not only did they find the boy's but they are the same two coming back everyday to extract them. They are All volunteers with no qualms about what they want for there services or back slapping, they have answered the call and done what there the best in the World. I hope The Thai Government reflect on others bravery.

I think you will find your British Specialists went Home a few days ago and left the task of Rescue to those most qualified to do so, and I don't think any of them would be seeking personal recognition for their part in such a worth while endeavor. Let's just be thankful it was a successful outcome \:D/

In this case it would be the equivalent of the George Cross, not the Victoria Cross.

The George Cross is awarded "for acts of the greatest heroism or for most conspicuous courage in circumstance of extreme danger", not in the presence of the enemy, to members of the British armed forces and to British civilians.

It is the second highest award of the United Kingdom honours system (the Victoria Cross being the highest).

While both the VC and the GC are awarded for acts of extreme heroism, the difference between them is whether they are awarded for acts:

• In the presence of the enemy - Victoria Cross.

• Not in the presence of the enemy - George Cross.

Ashamed to be English since 23rd June 2016 when England voted for racism & economic suicide.

Disgusted that the UK is “governed” by a squalid bunch of economically illiterate, self-serving, sleazy and corrupt neo-fascists.

Communication may have been a factor in who was chosen to extract the boys and coach, at least when above water. There may have been important things to be said and I'd be very surprised if the boys spoke/understood sufficient, reasonable English. i.e. the presence of a Thai speaker.

Jimbo you could say the Enemy was the rising water that could have claimed there live's. The Ex thai Seal deserves whatever his Country can bestow on him a brave brave man who Sacrificed his own life for others.
