This is part of what it is about
The widow of a former Thai navy SEAL who died during a rescue mission to save a soccer team trapped in a cave has spoken about the love they shared.
•She recalled that her husband said they would never know when they'll die, "so we need to cherish every day."
•Saman Gunan died from a lack of oxygen while volunteering on the cave rescue mission.
•His family and former colleagues have praised him as a charitable and adventurous man

fully agree with this but feel so sorry for his family, I hope they learn from this tragedy and install gates to the caves locked during rainy season or have park rangers stationed at the entrance to stop people entering when weather is inadvertent but tis

Still dont understand this one, very fit guy, highly experienced diver (or should be). Dies on a dive that quite a few have done before so dive depth and times are known, taking backup air cylinders into the cave. By all accounts he developed problems on the return journey which sadly resulted in his passing. Why does his boss ( a rear admiral no less) keep referring to lack of oxygen. From photo's it looks like the Thai SEALs were all using open circuit compressed air cylinders. It does not seem likely that the poor guy would have miscalculated how much air he required for the journey back but his dive buddies were OK. Just dont understand but dont have the complete story.

Re: A GREAT Person in the rescue of others
My son is in Roi Et today visiting his family to pay his respects.
He worked with him in Kanchanaburi as an interpreter at the Adventure School where Saman also was an Instructor.
He said he was a really nice man who loved his job & family.
Doubt if he will find out any more info as to how he died.
RIP Saman a hero & a true caring man.
