Glass for table top

Post by runrunshaw » August 15, 2018, 1:06 pm

Can anyone recommend a shop for purchasing custom glass--beveled--for a table top?
Thanks.

you can leave them cut a 5-6mm thick piece of glass at any aluminum window shop , i do not understand why it has to be special glass ? we have a few at our tables for years now , without any problems , of course we are not dancing on the tables ...;)

If there is ever an accident and the top breaks you will understand exactly why it should be special glass, and if you are really lucky there won't be anyone injured or killed by the rather impressive long and unbelievably sharp splinters.

In my posts all fees and requirements are the standard R&R but TIT and a brown envelope can make incredible changes YMMV.

Safety glass is the same as u get in your car it doesn't leave shards as sometime woodworker said very dangerous but depends on people's budget and their interest in being safe, I just wouldn't buy normal glass as really asking for an accident

we have them for 16 years now , all will depend of how you take care things ...
and accidents can happen , but i am sure i will not die from some broken non safety glass on a table...
this all up to you ,when i see some builds here i also have many questions , but i stopped asking long time now ,
as long as you are happy and most important ,stay happy ...,that's all it has to be ... ;)

I put in my order at this shop you gentlemen recommended. Easy to deal with the ladies at the front desk, and they also had good input. 2400 THB for two different panes of safety glass.

For the same order, a shop out by the university wanted 4000, and the shop on the Ring Road near the Nong Khai highway intersection wanted 3000 (the staff lady there was surly and unhelpful).

Delivery next week. Thanks again.
