They say the gun-toting cops then bartered with them before accepting 6,500 Baht — around £150 — not to chuck them in jail.

The standoff came after the group of old school pals came back from lunch on Wednesday to find the manager at JJ Residence on Phi Phi Island pointing to the broken lavvy.

They insist the damage was done by a laughing maid.

Jade, 27, of Kirkcaldy, said: “We were in disbelief. We thought someone had broken in, but they were stood saying ‘No, you done this’.

Expensive bog seat if you ask me,you can buy a whole toilet and sink unit for 4,500baht at least there wasn't any sexual assaults or anything.they should of read up on women travelling around Thailand.dont think they will be back.

Looking at the damage it looks like the seats just come loose and they've took the lid off the cistern to boost the look of damage.obviously a scam that will backfire for a few thousand baht and make Thailands image look as bad as it is.thailand rotten to the core.

Agreed. The next thing we know they'll be fatally punching out drunk Aussie blokes in bars or helping to bury Hells Angels drug lords in roadside graves in Pattaya. Slippery slope stuff, eh?
