The Chelsea keeper refuses to be substituted in the League Cup Final and the manager backs down and lets him get away with it . :badteeth:
Manchester City lifted the trophy on penalties.

Last night's football. West Brom were the visitors to ER. I was a tad concerned after Tuesday, but all's well. The highlight of the game for West Brom, they kicked off. 16 seconds later, 1 - 0 Leeds.
An interesting little fact, this season Leeds have not dropped a point when scoring first.
On to today, Norwich away to Millwall. Not an easy place to go.
Then we have the Sheffield derby on Monday night.
So lions and owls it is.
Lots of twists and turns to go in this league yet.

After holding then league leaders Edinburgh to a goalless draw in early Feb, Peterhead have now won 3 on the trot, including their game in-hand and are now leading by 2 points. The 'Blue Toon' faces mid-table Elgin at home today whereas Edinburgh have a harder chauve away against 3rd place Clyde so someone will take a clattering there.

Peterhead eked out a 1-0 home win while Clyde had the same margin of victory over Edinburgh so the Blue Toon goes 4 points clear of Clyde at the top.

Been a bit remiss lately and took my eye off the ball with the brave hearts of Fort William. With 7 games remaining in the regular season, they are only 77 points off the lead but tellingly... THEY HAVE 4 GAMES IN HAND!

This may well go down to goal difference!

They stopped counting goal difference in November when it got to three figures as none of the spread sheets go beyond -99 :^o

Last night's steel city derby ended 0 - 0. A good result for Leeds United. :D
At the top of the championship table now, it's looking like a 3-horse race. West Brom not out of it, but now have ground to make up. A key fixture coming up on 16 March - Leeds United vs Sheffield United. With Norwich looking good for one of the top 2 spots, this game will go a long way to deciding the other.
I'm looking forward to a West Brom v Sheff Utd playoff final.

A scrappy 1 - 0 away win. Brilliant.
Reading away in the week, and then the big one next Saturday.

It's getting even better! Elgin beat Clyde and both Edinburgh and Peterhead won their games so Peterhead are now 5 points clear at the top.

That's a couple of come-from-behind wins for the Blue Toon in the past week.

Clyde have taken a 4-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player so that should derail their late leadership challenge.

Haud gauin' the bluemogganers!

Birmingham will be in a bit of trouble. A fan attacks Grealish on the pitch.

Take it the Highland League officials havent worked out that Fort William moved their ground INTO the harbour to get all their home matches postponed with a waterlogged pitch

A nice win for Leeds Utd last night. After grinding it out against Bristol City last Saturday, last night's game against Reading was won at a canter. :D Sheff U also won last night  so it's on to this Saturday and in an early KO at ER when the mighty whites take on Sheff U. This promises to be some game and the stakes could not be higher.
Norwich in action tonight at home to Hull. Not an easy game, but I think the canaries will have too much for the tigers.
Looking at some stats, and the average number of points required to make the play offs over the last 15 years or so is 73, The average points for automatic promotion is 86. I think that this season that won't be enough, maybe 88 or 89 points required.
I have everything crossed for Saturday.

"Middlesbrough fans will be given the chance to rename the Riverside Stadium for the visit of Norwich City as part of a day of celebration to showcase all that is good about the area." from Evening Gazette

Smoggieland
Stadium of Smog
The Smog bog
Smog on Tees stadium

Then if they are allowed to showcase what is NOT so good in the area :-&
