I have heard The Prajaktra has a reasonably priced (120 baht), good, lunchtime buffet. Anyone tried it?

It is 129 baht net at the Prajaktra, compared to 312 bath net at the Centara, that is tax etc. included in both the prices. Centara at its door advertises a lower price that does not include the ++. Naturally, the choice is limited at the Prajaktra, and the expensive items, such as salmon, turkey, large shell fish, etc. are not included in the Prajaktra buffet. But, you will still have a nice lunch at the Prajaktra.

Seems a while since we had a report on this place so here goes . Stayed there this weekend having an early birthday/ Valentines celebration .Because it was a special occasion I booked a Design Suite . Rack rate 4,400++ but special offer of 4,000 inc. This included 4 buffet breakfasts. The room was fantastic, easily the best available in Udon .We booked a week ago and was glad we had as when checking in ,potential customers were being turned away as the place was full .I also booked a table in the roof top restaurant for the Saturday night, giving instructions for non menu item Peking Duck and a special celebratory cream cake .We also reserved a table with a view of the lake .On the night i am glad to say, every thing was just as I ordered. The duck was superb, a little different to the normal Chinese version, a bit of a Thai twist to it, but we all agreed it was delicious and the cake, a mocca and chocolate creation was mouth watering .We also ordered some sea bass from the menu. They were crispy fried to perfection. All washed down with my own bottle of Glenmorangie Sherry Wood.It really was an excellent meal, total cost just over 3,000bht .During the evening we were entertained by a duo singing mainly country style and later on a very good Thai male singer went around the tables serenading the diners with both Thai and English ballads. Will try and attache some photos .For those who want , there will be a Valentines Day buffet on the 14th, held on the roof at just 299bht per person or 500bht a couple, with a red rose for every lady .With music .
Just across from the park

To answer an earlier question. The restaurant is open to non residents .

Staying at Prajaktra now. 2400 baht for a deluxe room with breakfast. Good room and a good hotel, but I`m not happy with the breakfast. You have to order eggs, and it takes at least 10 minutes before you get it, and there is no bacon. I have stayed at 4 other hotels in Udon, and all of them has a better breakfast.

The wifi is free, and has a great speed, so that`s a big plus. :D

Lovely reviews of this Hotel, interesting to note that due to lack of Local Govt admin the Hotel was built in an area where nothing over a certain height could be built, but now that legal loophole has been closed again. The lagality applied mto everywhere bordering Nong prjak except the Hospital grounds obviously.

Next year. That's what they told me on Thursday. Both pools are filled with water. I believe they are constructing their New Years party stage in that area.

Update on this place. The pool is now open . Incidentally non residents can use it, 160bht adults & 120bht kids, per day or part of .No food allowed from outside .As you can see from the photos it's very nice but shady areas are limited.

Whilst the breakfast buffet is typically Thai, the lunch one is superb at just 179bht each inclusive of fruits, pastries and fresh fruit, plus many types of food styles .The only minus is the tables are limited and it can be very full if there is a conference taking place in the hotel.

Pool area is good, have a pool going down to 4 meters deep and one bigger shallow pool. Alot of mosquitos after dark there but othervice ok

Disagree ,,,,,, the rooms , pool and food may be ok but the foyer is tatty and in need of a make over ,, room rates are not cheap there but with clear vision anyone can see as i did the first impressions of the place ie the foyer are not good , dirty seating flaking paint wires taped to walls ,,,,suprised me to say the least ,,,,,i have no affliliation to any hotels in town just posting what i saw on a recent visit with friends from Bangkok ........ i was asked about the location of any 5 star rated hotels in Udon ,,,,,,,,,,officially there are none FACT .

Cannot see a diving board in any photos, are they doing scuba diving there :-k As long as you can see the bottom of the pool then fine for safety reasons 8)

Must try out the buffet again, will avoid the customary midday - 1pm period that has everybody scrambling for seats 8)

I go to the lunch buffet nearly every week, it's the best in town, especially at the price 179bht inc.I can be a big eater yet am always blown out there . Just lately though they seem to get a conference there nearly every day , but they open extra rooms near the buffet to accommodate them but of course it does mean a bit of a scramble for the food. I have overcome that by getting in just before midday, when the delegates break, this puts me one course ahead of them, so avoiding the scrabble.I notice CC's comments for the second time this week about the foyer so will look more closely, when next in however. I must say I don't share his observations, but then again I don't make a habit of hanging out in the reception areas. The dining area and the rooms are impeccably clean, as are the toilets.I still can't get used to the glass shower being actually in the room though, find it quite erotic and that's with the wife showering, can only dream what it must be like if with someone else's .
