Agree to a point magpie, but as Jose is now finding, the game moves on and if you dont move with it you get left behind ....... in Wengers case WELL BEHIND.
A true gentleman that should have called it a day 6 - 7 seasons ago. Instead of being remembered as the man who built Arsenal he will now be remembered as the man who destroyed it =;

I do hope that Arsenal do go on to win the Europa League for Wenger.
A great manager in his day but, really,he should have called it a day at least 5 years ago.
His legacy is tarnished because Arsenal were always thought of as a top 2 side but they have slowly drifted away and are now only a top 6.
If Wenger would have stayed on its possible they could be just top 10 in a couple of years time.
I thought it would have been curtains for him after they were thrashed 10-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich last season.
But good luck to the guy......wouldnt surprise me if he stayed in football management......Everton ??
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

I think that he will be greatly missed by the Gunners.

I have thought, for at least 2 years, that he should go - not because he is a bad manager but because he has been a lone exponent of book balanced football in the EPL.
It was a policy doomed to failure as others were chucking the kitchen sink full of cash for the same result at the same time.
The dual owners will have to overcome their huge differences & be willing to suddenly go from profit to investment if a new manager is going to make Arsenal competitive with the other top clubs again.

Farewell Arsene & goodluck, your exit from London will cost the club dearly as they have done nothing to prepare for it although it was a short term certainty..

Always like Mr Wenger and really hope he retires completely and not be lured onto another footballing managerial position at a lesser club like Everton , Leeds or Grimesby ...lots of his past players overflowing with fond remarks n farewells Berkamp , Van Persie , Over mars , Henry , Parlour , the list is endless of top pros who loved the guy ...even Paul Merson sobered up long enough to comment ..

Now just who the Gunners will get to replace the aging Arsene is the question , IMO gotta go with young blood ...latest makes grim reading for Gunners fans as Rodgers favourite   Benitez   , maybe Burnely need to watch mr Dyce in the close season ??? or Graham Alexander =; ...

OR they could save the effort of doing the job twice and just appoint Tony Pulis, Big Sam or Sparky now to keep them up ........ with their defense and the clubs inability to recruit even half descent players anymore it wouldn't be a great surprise to see them well short of mid table next season :-&

Should also finally see the end of Wiltshire & Ozil, as no half decent manager will put up with the lazy bas*ards [-X

If what has happened at other clubs in the past after a long term manager has gone then his replacement will be lucky to see out a season... :D
It is who replaces the replacement that is important, not the cannon fodder that replaces Mr. W...

From Today's Torrygraph

"Arsene Wenger has no intention of retiring from football and is even open to the idea of becoming a national team coach.
Monaco or Everton may offer Arsene Wenger a route back into management."

Arsene Wenger deserves grateful thanks from the supporters of Arsenal F.C. for all that he brought to the club, and from all football lovers (especially those in the United Kingdom) for all that he brought to the game.

A poster on this thread has opined that, “I have thought, for at least 2 years, that he should go - not because he is a bad manager but because he has been a lone exponent of book balanced football in the EPL.
It was a policy doomed to failure as others were chucking the kitchen sink full of cash for the same result at the same time”.

Whoever becomes the next Arsenal manager; however long he lasts in the job; and whether or not the club will fly high or sink down – one thing is certain, book balanced football in the EPL will sooner or later be the norm. And the 'chucking of the kitchen sink full of cash' will be a thing of the past; along with rattles, rosettes, leather footballs, ’Abide with Me’ at the F.A. Cup Final, baggy shorts, waterlogged goal areas, and neo-liberal economic policies.

FULL-TIME
West Brom 2-2 Liverpool
From 2 nil down Albion mount a last minute fight back. As someone said, if they had been playing all season as they have for the last 2 games they would not be in trouble. Not playing in the Championship next season still looks unlikely though..

I wouldn't say it was boring, because of the lack of goals. But I will admit Palace was totally out-muscled, out- skilled and dominated by Watford first half to the point of embarrassment. As is often the case in games, Palace turned it round second half and, I thought, had the better of it. A difficult game to referee!

Have to say that as a "neutral" I have to agree with 747
The only real exitement was whether Zaha could improve on his 5.6 score (I personally think the first half attempt was more of a 5.8 than the one her finally got carded for.
Agree that Watford "bossed" the first half with Pereyra easily the best player on the park. When he picked up his injury it seemed to give palace a lift and knock the stuffing out of Watford although both sides seemed prepared to show some fight with the only thing missing being the boxing gloves.

WBA again showed there are still good players there when they are allowed to play to their strengths instead of to Pardews ideas #-o
Must say I'm p*ssed of with klipperty ...... 63 mins and he prepares Bobby Firmino and the OX to come on and I'm thinking ......... great Salahs only got 2 + 1 fantasy points and he's going to be rested for the CL match (only the second time I can remember Salah not doing major damage to my fantasy team) then the bl**dy idiot leaves him on risking him getting injured and the little hieroglyph hieroglyph hieroglyph hieroglyph went and scored again :irked:

That's what a forum's for, isn't it, opinions, preferably sensible. The Palace game was hardly a classic (but then I've tuned into many of the big boy matches only to be disappointed), more an aggressive struggle. But the woodwork hit three times, several penalty claims, confrontations, some nasty challenges, some excellent individual performances, the result in doubt till the end, some calm refereeing if perhaps he wasn't 100% correct, made it, for me, watchable.
I do like listening to Hodgson, who appears to be fair and honest and such a contrast to some managers, who are very difficult to understand what they're on about. So to the Zaha debate. Hodgson is adamant Zaha doesn't dive, he's not that kind of player. I agree that I couldn't see anything to warrant a penalty in that first half challenge, but the commentators and Hodgson thought the second half challenge WAS a penalty - and Zaha got booked for that. :? Perhaps he'll appeal the booking? But one has to admit, when he's on fire, he can leave two, even three players puzzled. \:D/
