Re: Premier League 2017-18
Man U new defender Lindelof looks to be the "Real deal" about half an hour late with his tackles and nearly tripped himself up when asked to take a pen

Re: Premier League 2017-18
I watched the Palace games. There was no love lost in the Palace v WBA game. The commentators mentioned one of the highlights of the tournament was Zaha and his skills. He's started pre-season on fire. Unfortunately, in spite of he 'friendly, pre-season tag", Grujic in the'Pool game( who already ended Palace's Tomkin's season at Anfield) and Albion generally with several crude and sad challenges targeted him, aimed to put him in hospital! I understand Zaha along with Eden Hazard are the Premier League's most fouled players, which rather says it all.goodison wrote: ↑July 24, 2017, 12:40 pmSorry Stat but Foxes beat Baggies 7-6 on Pens. in Semi Final they they then met 'Pool in the final and, as they say, the rest is History. Oh. crystal Palace beat Baggies in 3rd. 4th. placed match, like anybody cared? All in all it wasn't a bad competition with teams fielding strong sides with a good few players making their debuts for their new clubs. Pitch cut up a bit in Hong Kong as all games were played at the same venue. (Happy Valley) . Monsoon Rains didn't help! Believe the next edition will be held in Singapore.

Watched Barca v united this morning. in ICC. Neymar scored the only goal of the game in the 1st. half. Something of a walk in the park for the Catalans.Perhaps United missing Wazza already?

Re: Premier League 2017-18
Thanks Statto. I will set the alarm clock, then go to bed earlier than my usual time of 21.30hrs , and hope the match proves worth the effort of getting up in the middle of the night.
Incidentally, it appears to me that all the EPL teams expected to be in the top six competitive group are approaching their pre-season matches, most particularly against fellow EPL member clubs, far more seriously in these "Friendlies" than has been the case in seasons past. Their seems to exist a common realization among these managers, not only that their teams are likely to be the largest, and most evenly matched, group, ever to compete for the Title; but also the individual performances of the manager, and their reputations will be under scrutiny like never before. I think it is not stretching to far, given the obscene amounts of money spent on players selected by the Managers, to expect that full blame for failure will be attributed upon the Manager.
Now, with Conte & Guardiola, added the presence of Klopp & The Mouth, with already no love lost between, and all equally able to compete for players, in financial terms, I suspect the media are going to spend as much time writing and talking about the relationships between the managers, as about the football. In this latter context, I think Arsne Wenger will be the least of the worries facing "The Mouth", this coming season when, rather than if, he starts in with his standard nonsensical and disrespectful references to fellow EPL Managers

Re: Premier League 2017-18
It's also worth noting Matt that virtually ALL the top class managers have realised that if you want to be at the very top of your profession you have to win the PREMIER LEAGUE. Apart from Carlo (in semi retirement as far as needing to actually work to win his league) and ZZ who still needs to prove that he can manage a team that hasn't got all of Real's money and back room staff doing the work for him, everyone else worth mentioning is here.

COUTINHO DOESN'T TRAVEL
Liverpool have confirmed that Philippe Coutinho has not travelled to Dublin for their pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao tonight.
The Brazilian, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, misses out with a "sore back".
Shouldn't that read "sore back hander"

STOKE EYE STRIKER
Stoke City are in talks to sign free agent Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, according to the Daily Mail.
The Cameroon international left Schalke in the summer after scoring three goals last season.
Mark Hughes and his staff have said they have never heard of him, but the guy in the club shop revealed he will be worth a fortune having his name put on the back of shirts

A sore back comes about when you spend most of your life carrying your team. I should know! :-"
