Re: Reminiscing ....
Ah a Cessna 172N Skyhawk. A first plane for many a budding PPL candidate, even today it's quite popular. This particular one I last saw on the grass at Bournemouth in 2007, it was first registered in 1988 so you must have had new then ?panick wrote:I used to fly this ol' bird 30+ years ago!

Re: Reminiscing ....
Nothing terribly unique here, but I miss my Cadillac and Yamaha 750cc big bike. I enjoyed washing and waxed my vehicles most every weekend. Here I just take the car to a carwash since it's just too hot to labor outside. I don't dare ride a motorbike or even a bicycle in Thailand because it's so dangerous.
The Cadi had a night vision camera in the front grill that projected from the dash to the windshield so one could see obstacles in the road up to 100 meters away. Good for driving at nights on roads with no street lamps and deer and other critters crossing the street. When I would pull into a gas station to fill up, inevitably some teenager would ask me what that round thing was in my grill and I would tell them it was a 50 Caliber machine gun, then they would walk away with their mouth hanging open. I really miss my rides!

Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

My little 1989 Mazda Eunos. I used to drive it but still own it. The missus drives the car instead, she's a hairdresser so fulfils the cliche.

Re: Reminiscing ....
This topic had me thinking about my own motoring history, nothing exotic in the early years but some would be worth a lot of money if I still had them today.I started learning to drive in 1952 on a Standard 8, it had a massive , for those days, engine of 803cc, never forget it with it's flick up turn indicators and sliding windows, when the damn indicator arm stuck up you could almost bet the window would stick too .
After this I bought a used Triumph Renown, like this. Didn't keep it long though, it was a real petrol guzzler with it's 1800cc engine and top speed of 70mph, replaced that with a Ford Anglia E04A, then with the imminent arrival of my first born decided to be a sensible family man so in 1960, bought this new Ford Prefect E93A model. Enough reminiscing for one day.
Then two years late whilst at Uni I bought a 1948 Mg TC, new price 527 pounds, mine cost me all my savings of 120, but it needed a lot of refurbishing .Similar to this.
This saw my Uni days out, which also coincided with my getting a serious girl friend, but what a bird puller it had been !!After this I bought a used Triumph Renown, like this. Re: Reminiscing ....
Not sure if I am old enough to reminisce, but daydreaming has taken up a lot of my past life and still does today, if daydreaming is the same as reminiscing.
Since digital anything was not invented way back then I have only internet photos of my first 2 vehicles from 43 years ago.
I had been working straight out of school as an apprentice chef at age 16 and due to lots of overtime I accumulated plenty funds over the 1st year and at 17 immediately when I got my license I bought a new Suzuki road/trail 185 bike, the first model with the 21 inch front wheel and also at the same time a 2nd hand Holden HK Kingswood. Light blue and white top. Even had the front sun visor as per photo. Actually I have bought a sun visor from Australia and put it on my Isuzu highlander here in Thailand. Haven't seen any others with it. If you see it around town now you know who it is.
The photos are exactly what I bought. ahhhhhh the memories. Mum made curtains for the rear windows of the car and I had a matress in the back and it was a true surfy's shaggin wagon, plus it could fit 4 surfboards and 4 mates for weekend surfing trips. Great car. 3 speed column shift. 186 motor.
