I heard about Tony's death yesterday, but I haven't a clue who he is. Could someone post a photo of him so we can put a face with his name? RIP Tony and condolences to the family.

A loss of one of the longest serving members of UM.

Tony was one of the earliest members of this forum (and its pre 2005 incarnation) and contributed a great deal to UM in the early days by way of informative posts about Udon, allied with his native humour and banter.

RIP Tony.
Ashamed to be English since 23rd June 2016 when England voted for racism & economic suicide.

Disgusted that the UK is “governed” by a squalid bunch of economically illiterate, self-serving, sleazy and corrupt neo-fascists.

Haven't been on the Net in a couple of days and was really surprised to see this. Can't say that Tony was a regular, but he did pop in on occasion, including the first week we were open. He was sort of a neighbor, as the family market is just a few blocks away from us. We shared a few PM's about happenings in the neighborhood and other business matters. I'd run into him in town on occasion also. Always a cordial guy. Condolences to the family and RIP, Tony.
Every day I wake up is a good day.

I have only, just, heard this sad news.
A real shocker as Tony was one of those guys who looked indestructible.
Harder to meet a nicer guy who always took the time & trouble to have a chat whenever we bumped into each other.
As others have already said he will be a real loss to Udon.
Even if it is late in the day, heartfelt commiserations to his family both in Thailand & the UK..

Some of Tony's ashes have been sent back to his family in the UK and they will be organising a memorial service for him back in Old Blighty for him.

Tony's sister in law was also able to print off some of the pictures taken on the day of his service and these were given to his mother who was able understand the service provided in Udon.

His UK family have asked to thank you all those who attended and those who have passed on their condolences via UM

I met Tony only a couple of times but from experience he was a lovely bloke.
The first time was when Wazza dropped by my place to introduce himself. I thought Wazza brought security with him, Tony was a big fella.
The second time was quite a while later but he remembered our names and he had a chuckle about my Thai wife's Aussie accent.
I'm sure he'll be missed by all his friends and family. RIP

It is nearly a year now since Tony passed away. As many of Tony's friends know Tony was very involved in local football here in Udon. Before Tony passed away he talked of plans to start a new football team in Udon. Tony wanted to call the team 'Udon International FC"
In memory of Tony we formed the team a few months ago, and we have a special game planned on Monday 22nd June to remember "Big Tony"
The special game is at Udon Immigration Office, (pitch is behind and to the left of the Immigration office building) and is 'Udon Tourist Police FC v Udon International FC. Kick off is 6pm. The game is not too serious (as Tony would have insisted!) and our International team has players from 20 years old to 62! The players of Udon International FC have contributed to purchase "The Prendergast Memorial Trophy" - and the winning team on Monday will be presented with the trophy.
After the game we will be going to BeeBee bar ( last bar in the row of bars opposite the Irish Clock) and expect to be there about 7-45pm.
All welcome to the game, and/ or The BeeBee Bar to enjoy a beer, and remember a great friend to many of us in Udon.
If you have any questions please PM me, or call into BeeBee Bar and Simon can give you further details. There is also a Facebook page "Udon InternationalFC" for more information abour our team, and next Monday.

I never met Tony but after reading the comments here I think he'd be really pleased about this game and the trophy named in his memory. He must have been a good friend to many of those who had the good fortune to meet him.

@denz

Good on ya! Having been a close friend of Tony's, I know he'd be really please to hear such news... 'Hold the front page' as he'd say.
