Re: Is it safe to breathe?

I bumped into a new, farang UDFC player the other day next to Central, literally his second day here. One of the first things he said was that he was glad to be out of the Bangkok air. He had recently been playing in Scotland, so the heat is something else to experience.

Re: VietJet Udon-Saigon?

Again I'm 'drifting', but it does concern Vietjet. Actually promotion fares Udon to Chiang Rai HAVE reappeared. 300 baht the basic, but the usual add-ons for checked baggage etc. But three of us there and back with 20Kg each for under 6,000 baht seems pretty good to me.

Re: Visa Extension

Brian, Did you use an Income letter from Embassy that was issued before they stop giving out? No. I used the normal letter and bank statement from the local branch of my bank. But, as I said, with the possible issue of where the money came from being raised, I had additional, comprehensive evidence...

Re: Volleyball Tournament

For a moment I thought they'd covered the part of the pitch in sand, but see the volleyball area is at the side of the stadium, a distance from the main stand.

Re: Visa Extension

Just a heads up here which may be helpful, particularly to those extending on a marriage basis, when you're required to present two sets of papers to Immigration. Make sure you take original copies of documentation e.g. like the updated Kor2. I made the error of using my colour printer to take copie...

Re: VietJet Udon-Saigon?

I'm checking daily to see whether the Vietjet Udon to Chiang Rai flights are to be extended into April and the school holidays - an excuse for a short break. A rep, whether accurate or not, advised that schedules often change early into the New Year, so it's looking unlikely now. I appreciate it's ...

Need to produce ID when paying utilities.

Again, sorry if this has already featured in/as a topic. Is it a new thing that I.D's are being requested at outlets where you can pay utility bills? My wife tells me that this was the case at our local Tesco's. I understand it applies to Thai as much as foreigners. What's the thinking here? - to ch...

For what it's worth, my wife is now able to access the updated house wi-fi with her newish Samsung, when we ascertained the correct password. \:D/

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

A quick Google and a few topics indicate you're very correct, Saint. Perhaps the technician meant it's ready as and when for 5G? My reference to early days was actually concerned with solving the 'niggles' which often come with something new plugged in - my wife's lack of 4G 'phone access for a star...

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

Not that I grasp these things, but I think the technician said "5G". Early days, but my wife doesn't seem able to connect on her 4G 'phone, even though I put the password back to its' previous. Have to upgrade 'phone to 5G if she wants to connect?

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

IMG_0649.JPG IMG_0650.JPG TOT did turn up just now. Replaced modem with larger version, four aerials. Now receiving speed of 260 for BOTH download and upload. No charge for different modem(it's their property anyway!) and the monthly payment remains at 590 baht per month. Photos attached, Parrot. S...

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

Just a heads up. If you're not getting the speed you think you should be, perhaps an upgrade in the modem(is that the correct term?) is required. At least, that's what the TOT helpdesk told me today and showed me a different, larger box to the one I have. Whilst my link has been upgraded to 250 Mb, ...

Re: How to Boost Your TOT Internet for Free

Another promotion on offer. A casual request revealed for the same 590 baht, the speed can be increased from 100 mbps to 250. Mine done in a few seconds by the older guy sitting opposite the payment windows in the main TOT base.

Re: Overpass/tunnel Udon Ringroad Nongkai Hwy

If I've missed it, sorry, but is there a height restriction or general ban on buses(single/double decker), trucks using the underpass/tunnel? I don't actually think I've seen one using it to date, accepting that most probably want to get on the ring road. No signs to this. There's a sort of entrance...

Sorry if I've missed it, but has anyone confirmed what purpose the building on the SE corner serves? Not a police box, I think. Control centre for lighting, ventilation, pumping?

Re: English Premier League 2019/20

Silly me, I wrote that completely wrong. I meant, of course, that the clock runs for ONLY 60 minutes, when the ball is actually in play.
