Re: school fees

Last week the daughter gave a printed note to the wife. This morning we had to drive to the school for my wife to receive 300 baht. Asked her why this was and answer was "Government give back". Just imagine if Dragons claims about lack of integrity and total corruption in the school system were cor...

Re: Pharmacy...comparison shopping made easy

Fortunately, at least at present, neither I or the family need regular medication, but I have a friend and his wife who do. Very recently, they were talking about the pharmacy near Global and were very positive about the prices there.

Re: Bangkok Bank letter/statement + Bank Book Update

Thanks for your contribution sometimewoodworker. I feel suitably reprimanded and can now tell the difference between a letter and a bank statement. My excuse is that as I receive both from my bank at the same time, dated same day, I suppose I regarded them as a joint process. So, it seems that as ma...

Re: Bangkok Bank letter/statement + Bank Book Update

The above you are writing is for a visa marriage based on the 400000 in the bank . When you apply based on income doesn't have to be the same day 1 year statement Thanks for your reply, Tom. On behalf of my friend, I hope you're correct, but we'll see if other members comment. I use the same marria...

Bangkok Bank letter/statement + Bank Book Update

I'm trying to give correct advice to a contact who is applying for a visa extension based on marriage, income method. Without going into details, he's being 'messed about' with e.g. different information today to that given just a week ago. With, ahem, previous history, the suspicion is that a donat...

Re: School restarts.

It appears the Ministry Public Health and Covid 19 advisers, who about 10 days ago forbade the Udon Christian School going 5 days a week, have relented and all pupils are to attend Monday through Friday starting tomorrow (13th). It seems the above offered further guidance, but I'll be surprised to s...

Thanks Brian not heard that
Well, I'm getting the info from my wife, who has a message from my son's teacher on LINE. She says it's every grade. I think the students may have a letter when they come home later. I hope she's got it right!

Re: getting the sofa reupholstered.

The shop may do awnings too - I'm not sure. Technology is not my strongpoint - I'm one who has a 'phone for, um , phone calls. The name of the shop in Thai is บริษัท วรจักร2014 จำกัด. This comes up on Google Maps. I think the GPS coordinates you want are 17.4081377, 102.7968587. But once physi...

Re: getting the sofa reupholstered.

I note that you may be going in a different direction (buying new), but I did look in on Adunyadet Rd again. The shop I'm referring to IS still operating. It's about 75m diagonally across from the shop you found, that would be northwards. There's a large red, long sign outside the shop. The front no...

Re: getting the sofa reupholstered.

I can't say I've been down there very recently and who knows what might be happening because of Covid. Yes, I think there were a couple of shops on the road dealing in upholstery. The shop I refer to was sort of 'two in one' - one unit the largish actual work area (plus the pavement!), several staff...

Re: getting the sofa reupholstered.

There'a a place in Adunyadet Rd, which may be able to help. Perhaps 100-200 metre on the right, if you're coming from the junction with Wattana Nuwong Rd. I've certainly seen sofas in there and various materials stored.

Re: power bill reductions (covid-19)

Don't ask me to swear to it, but my wife talked of further reductions being made until December. Unfortunately your missus is wrong, but I wish she was right. You may well be correct, but getting her(or any Thai for that matter) to say so would come as a surprise. She offered that the possibility w...

Re: English Premier League 2019/20

My lot is playing crap at present. Five defeats in a row and very probably more to come.A lot of arguments over the reasons, including criticism of Hodgson and tactics in the mix.In honesty, apart from an apparently spirited showing v Chelsea, have deserved nothing. But, how the VAR ref with all the...

"This will ensure that you receive your credit on the same day you apply." Ah, no in my case, told I'll have to wait another 10 days for checks to be made. Given a new reference number. I was going to 'let rip' at the customer satisfaction survey emailed to me at the same time. But only two question...

Re: Danger to Ait Asia?

It may be relevant that they're taking ages to put just 1000 baht in my credit shell, concerning a cancelled flight I booked for a friend - and that was after asking me for proof that I was the payee, although not the passenger.
