Re: OK boomer

Stick and stones I guess.

I can remember dear old granny spratt telling a young, pre-pubescent jack, that "my eyes were bigger than my belly".

A few years later that became "my balls were bigger than my brain".

Re: ClimateChange - EndTime 2050 - Disturbing Report Sheds Light on

Predictably, it is the same people who are blind to climate change as are blind to Trump.

Not just on this forum - you can include the troglodyte Australian prime minister in that coterie. :(

I'm enjoying the "OK boomer" line we are increasingly hearing or reading in public discourse.
I am personally offended that a Kiwi sheila has culturally appropriated the Australian national animal for her own ageist agenda.

FMD - where will this all end?

....... She said that I would need it to get a further extension of stay based on my OA visa, but suggested that, if I did not want to buy insurance, I should attend a few days before my current extension expires and apply for an O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen......... Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Oh dear ..... this is now getting messy.

Reports on TV today of 2 people on pre-Oct 31 O-A visas being stamped in for 12 months at Swampy, without any discussion about insurance.

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

When I return to Perth prior to July 2020, I will not bother getting re-entry permit.

That will mean my current O-A will be dead, and I can apply for a new O from the Perth consulate. Hopefully Thai Immigration will not include insurance requirements for O visas before then. [-o<

Re: Another UK pension hit.

It is like all UK based income subject to income tax but taken alone is not sufficient to attract any, however if you have a working wife or incoming rental income it's addition could put you in a tax bracket, as could receipt of an additional private pension regardless of your individual age. Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Sitting at Swampy airport typing this, having come through immigration without incident about an hour ago. IO got a bit of a panicked look when he saw the AO visa, and spoke to the guy in the adjacent booth. That guy saw my re-entry permit, and told him to stamp me in until late July 2020. Insurance...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

From the few examples being quoted on Thai Visa so far, it seems that those entering Thailand on a pre-31 October OA visa are being given normal entry. However, it is not so clear with those seeking extensions at local immigration offices. Some are saying all OA extensions now require insurance, whi...

Grumpy I agree with your outrage, however the youngsters from later generations have all performed well in the many conflicts the Brits have been involved with since WW11. Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

I am on a 1 year permission to stay on OA visa. The Visa was June 2018 to June 2019. I purchased a multi entry re-entry permit and have re-entered twice since (last time mid October) with no issues. My plan is to take at least 2 more trips before expiration of permission to stay and I dont envisage...

Re: Warning : Non OA converted to Non O based on retirement

Thanks for the heads up, AA. Seems a bit strange though, when my understanding is that the insurance requirement does not start until after 31 October. In my case http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/viewtopic.php?p=556421#p556421, probably doesn't make much difference. When I arrive back I will ei...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

After further reflection, I agree arjay. I will carry my bank book ( plenty of funds) and yellow house book with me. At worst, I should get a 30 day stamp. That will allow me to cross over to Lao - possibly Savannakhet. Can someone please confirm - do they only issue "marriage" O visas there, or can...

Took 3 Henckels knives in today and left them for about 2 hours. He had a table full of work ready to be done (mainly electric hair clippers) so I was thankful for the relatively short turn around time. Picked them up - TBH55/blade, and sharp enough to shave with. :D ps managed to find the noodle sh...
