Re: Current Forum Technical Issues

When I open the home page, it momentarily opens normally but then jumps to what is the "Facebook Page" below the currency exchange rate table and presents this message, "Your request couldn't be processed There was a problem with this request. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can." Th...

Re: Grab Food

Grab motorbike drivers are a menace. I would never use Grab. Every food order on the road with those guys is just another opportunity for someone to be killed or maimed. Everyday traffic is bad enough, but those guys take it to another level with their excess speed, daredevil maneuvers, and disregar...

Mail is working now. Just received a letter and a package for the wife from her family.
Also, they are excepting mail going to Thailand.
Where are you located, Sam? How long did it take for the mail to reach you from Thailand?

Re: Tell me what you have for breakfast...and i tell you who you are.

Unsweetened whole grain cereal or muesli with fresh fruit and soy milk, greek style yogurt, and one cup of coffee with soy milk and sugar. Once a week usually Sunday I make a large cheese and veggie omelet (3 eggs), whole wheat toast with olive oil and fruit jam, fresh fruit usually some type of mel...

Re: 5 Year Renewal of Driver's License

My Thai wife renewed her 5 year license for another 5 years last Friday in Central Plaza. If one enters the mall through the main front doors, then proceed to the far left hand corner of the building, 2nd Floor. The mall opens at 10:30 Mon-Fri, but the DL office doesn't get started until around 11,...

Re: BANGKOK BANK Transfers, Dead in the Water?

Regarding Semper Fi's post: Last year when I became aware of these new transaction format requirements, I contacted Vanguard and Bangkok Bank of New York. Both assured me that there would be no changes that would impact any transfers that I make from Vanguard to my account in Thailand. As of today t...

Re: BANGKOK BANK Transfers, Dead in the Water?

Up until a year ago, I was able to do online, free transfers from Vanguard through Bangkok Bank in NY. As I read the forums, that option is no longer available. Two questions: First to confirm Bangkok Bank NY is no longer an option. Second, does anyone have a Vanguard account where you can set up o...

Re: Sendiing Mail

Same here, I needed to sent absentee ballot for runoff election, 3 months minimum for boat. I don't vote in the runoff this time around. I hate DHL, rip off and anything sent here by them goes to customs and yes you will pay whether you should or not. If we don't have have airmail by Nov. I will se...

Re: No Stimulus check for some US Citizens Abroad

You are reading it right. It has been reported in multiple publications and websites. It applies to me as well. Luckily although I could use the money, I don't need it. The sad part of this rule is that a citizen living in the U.S., now without income because of the pandemic, is denied help solely b...

As long as the local Mom and Pop near me is able to stock up during the 2 day grace period, everything will be fine. I have been able to buy whatever I need since the ban went into effect.

Re: Visa Extension

A friend had his extension of stay turned down today in Udon. The IO wanted to know the "source of income". He was using the 65k/month method. He had a letter from BBL showing 12 months of foreign deposits plus his Passbook. The IO said it was a new requirement. Yesterday I went to immigration to a...

Re: Immigration Visa Announcement

Really short sighted plan. Just a 3 week relief then back to same old problems at immigration. Should have granted at least 60 days from expiration of visa. I don't see much happening by the end of the month to enable tourists to easily exit Thailand.
