Re: Udon Thani Retirement Extension - what do they need?

I will be renewing my retirement extension at Udon Immigration Office later this week so doing a quick check on what is needed. Based on Immigration saying income letters having a 6-month validity, I don't recall reading of any other impact from the income letter changes. So how does this look? Me....

Re: FBAR Report

Unless your retirement plan is held by or administered by a foreign bank then you have to report funds in that bank via FBAR if those funds exceed 10,000 dollars. I am assuming that the Thai bank in which you have your money deposited is NOT a part of your retirement plan so you have to file a FBAR....

Re: Marriage Visa

Would someone share their recent experience(s) in obtaining a Visa because of marriage to a Thai. I am currently on an O-A retirement visa and have been for the last 12 years. I am considering changes to a marriage Visa due to the recent clarification of the Immigration policies for both retirement...

Re: ID Required in Post Office

I usually use the post office in Non Sung and I have never been asked for an I.D. for either sending or picking up mail. I remember the first time I picked up mail at Non Sung and assumed I would need I.D. so I took my passport but they didn't ask and haven't since. I sent a package to Cambodia back...

Re: Tesco to discontinue plastic bags

It appears that Tesco will provide paper bags in place of plastic, contrary to what the Tesco girl told us which was to bring our own.

Tesco to discontinue plastic bags

Yesterday the checkout girl at Tesco told my wife that on Dec. 4 Tesco would no longer be using plastic bags and if you want to bag your purchases you should bring your own bags. I guess like Macro does now. This was at the old Tesco on the north side near the overpass construction.

Re: Income Letter

Hopefully the change to IAT format requirements will not effect my use of wire transfers from Bank of America to Bangkok Bank that I send to help support wife's mother. Guess I will find out in April I have sent enquiries to both the N.Y. branch of Bangkok Bank and the financial group from where my...

Re: Income Letter

Forgot to mention, I hope that the issue of the April 01 2019 format change from ACH to ICH is brought to the attention of the Bangkok Immigration Department from the powers-that-be in the various Embassy's in Bangkok because after all it is an important consideration for retirees that Bangkok Bank...

Re: Noisy Thai Inconcideration

Early on, about 10 years ago, had a rental in a close neighborhood. One night the music next door was so loud you could feel it, windows shaking, thought I saw cracks forming in the walls. They weren't even having a party, just listening I guess, 2 or 3 Thai guys. The wife and I just went over and a...

A question around arrival & departure on a Non immigrant O multiple entry visa. Do you need to fill out a departure card when leaving on th...

Re: Income Letter

Has anyone spoken to the immigration office in Udon and received confirmation that an income affidavit issued by the U.S. embassy outreach in Udon on Nov. 7 will be accepted as proof of income for six months after issuance? That would be until May 7, 2019.
