Re: BANGKOK BANK Transfers, Dead in the Water?

Regarding Semper Fi's post: Last year when I became aware of these new transaction format requirements, I contacted Vanguard and Bangkok Bank of New York. Both assured me that there would be no changes that would impact any transfers that I make from Vanguard to my account in Thailand. As of today t...

Re: BANGKOK BANK Transfers, Dead in the Water?

Up until a year ago, I was able to do online, free transfers from Vanguard through Bangkok Bank in NY. As I read the forums, that option is no longer available. Two questions: First to confirm Bangkok Bank NY is no longer an option. Second, does anyone have a Vanguard account where you can set up o...

Re: Sendiing Mail

Same here, I needed to sent absentee ballot for runoff election, 3 months minimum for boat. I don't vote in the runoff this time around. I hate DHL, rip off and anything sent here by them goes to customs and yes you will pay whether you should or not. If we don't have have airmail by Nov. I will se...

Re: No Stimulus check for some US Citizens Abroad

You are reading it right. It has been reported in multiple publications and websites. It applies to me as well. Luckily although I could use the money, I don't need it. The sad part of this rule is that a citizen living in the U.S., now without income because of the pandemic, is denied help solely b...

Re: Alcohol sales ban!

As long as the local Mom and Pop near me is able to stock up during the 2 day grace period, everything will be fine. I have been able to buy whatever I need since the ban went into effect.

Re: Visa Extension

A friend had his extension of stay turned down today in Udon. The IO wanted to know the "source of income". He was using the 65k/month method. He had a letter from BBL showing 12 months of foreign deposits plus his Passbook. The IO said it was a new requirement. Yesterday I went to immigration to a...

Re: Immigration Visa Announcement

Really short sighted plan. Just a 3 week relief then back to same old problems at immigration. Should have granted at least 60 days from expiration of visa. I don't see much happening by the end of the month to enable tourists to easily exit Thailand.

3% rating increase is soaring? Here's the survey report with no spin from Breitbart. The survey says his approval rating is 50%. SOARING! (According to 800 people in the survey.) https://www.cnbc.com/video/2020/04/08/cnbcs-all-america-economic-survey-on-how-coronavirus-changed-outlook-among-consumer...

Re: covid-19 mask

My feeling is that unless one is sick there is no reason to wear a mask. The problem is that one may be infected, asymptomatic and not realize they are spreading the virus so a mask might help. In certain situations I intend to wear a mask in order to, hopefully, make other folks more comfortable in...

Re: Covit-19 local fatality?

Panic buying due to rumors or panic buying in anticipation. I guess it's how you look at it. If other countries were to mirror the Chinese way of quarantine, then panic buying IMO would not necessarily be a bad thing. Back in the daze of living in Okinawa during typhoon season, I was advised to sto...

Three things I do. Pour into a container with lid and put in trash bin. Use as a substitute for lighter fluid for charcoal BBQ. Sometimes mix into compost bin.

Re: Coronavirus Now in Thailand !!

Something to consider. This is an excerpt from npr.org dated 29 Jan. 2020. Another important reminder: The CDC recommends a pneumococcal vaccine for children under 2, for adults who are 65 or older, for people who smoke and for those who have certain medical conditions. It's not that this vaccine wi...
