Re: ClimateGate busts things wide open

What I can't get my head around is the fact that our climate records don't go back all that far in relation to the age of the Earth. Evidence might exist to correlate man made CO2 with rises in temperature but some subject matter experts seem to be ignoring the fact that this could also be down to a...

Re: Google unveils Nexus One phone

They're certainly very ambitious aren't they? A few things spring to mind: Apple will have to extricate itself from the O2 deal if Nexus One starts taking a significant share of the market. Nexus One is new and may suffer from bugs so it may be worth waiting a while before buying one. Technology is ...

Re: John Lewis's results

This is on a day that Marks and Spencer reported less than pleasing sales figures for the festive season. The share price dropped 6.8% on the LSE. In contrast 5 week 'like for like' sales for John Lewis were up 12.7%.

Yeah, either that or you want to exert a bit of pressure on the other side to close a deal.

Re: GM to 'wind down' Saab business

Well, according to Bob's report, the car and aerospace arms split in 1990. Saab group still make aircraft though. Check this site out and the report on the joint Thai venture! Funnily enough, my organisation has recently started sub contracting the manufacture of avionics equipment to Thailand. http...

Re: GM to 'wind down' Saab business

It could be an opportunity to go out and buy one although I'm not sure how GM would handle warranties. I was always put off by reports of the 9-3's poor handling despite never having driven one and being the current owner of an agricultural Volvo. Source: What Car http://www.whatcar.com/car-r...

Re: Night Market Get Together

Awfully sorry, I'm off topic but I have the urge to point out that the British forces messing system comprises three messes not two. They are: The Officers' Mess The WO & Sergeants' Mess The Junior Ranks' (RAF) or Other Ranks' Mess. Carry on. I know it was a long time ago but in my day the latter m...

Re: Night Market Get Together

Now you, as an ex-army officer who worked his way to a commision through the ranks, as you told me, should know that there is a mess (SocialClub for our American readers) for the sergeants and OR's, whilst the commisioned officers have their own. You as a one time member of both will have experienc...

Re: Night Market Get Together

I can't talk for other nationalities but for the British , you would have to understand the class divide . Yes it does exist despite 20+ years of Socialism proclaiming all are equal .In England we have two separate types of social clubs, the Conservative and Labour clubs The latter often called 'Wo...

Thank you, Uncle Tilo. I'm not familiar with Ice Hockey but I am aware of the Sin Bin process in Rugby Union, which provided me with a useful metaphor for describing the punishing of members on the Udonmap forum. In fact, Rugby probably stole the idea from Ice Hockey.
