Re: Sendiing Mail

Final act of my Life Certificate Saga, I received an email from DWP Yesterday to confirm that they had received the L.C. and could now start processing it. So that's 18 days from posting at Central Plaza to my receiving email yesterday. Job's a good 'un.

Re: Sendiing Mail

As of yesterday 12/10/2020 I had not heard anything from the UK Pension people ref: the arrival of my Life Certificate Form, however, I did another trace and Track on the "EMS" website and that confirmed delivery of the letter along with the name of the recipient. That means it took 10 days from pos...

Re: Bernard Trink RIP

Aye, in the early 80's when I first came to Thailand "Nite Owl's column was a must read.He could be seen trolling the Bars of Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and Patpong, at least so my friends told me. R.I.P. Bernard Trink, I'll raise a glass in your honour for keeping us amused and informed over the decades.

The photo must be of the new Toffee Lady, trouble is : there's no one to catch the Mints. Good prediction Jon, rain already here. Will Prenton Park still be standing after "Storm Alex" hits it?

Re: English Premier League 2020/21

I didn't think Mike Dean was allowed to referee an Everton or Liverpool game as he comes from "The Wirral", a tad too close to home?

Re: English Premier League 2020/21

One of my early memories of Leeds United in the First Division was when they visited Goodison Park. Norman Bites yer leg Hunter was playing as was Billy bremner. Willie Bell was at left back and his tackle on Derek(aka Shirley) Temple was so high he managed to crack a couple of our winger's ribs and...

Re: Consolidated Jokes

Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me, again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. "Like sitting around the pool, drinking wine isn't a good thing?" I asked. (Talking about my “doing something useful” seems to be her favourite topic of conversation.) She is "only thinking of me," she sa...

Re: Proper Ritz cheesy biscuits

I agree on the "latest?" "Ritz" offering, the alternatives were a cheesy biscuit made by "Jack and Jill" which have been around for yonks. In fact a certain bar owner of Welsh extraction and who ran the "Red Dragon" in "Farang Alley" lived on J & J's as he wasn't too keen on Thai food. His wife woul...

Re: Head monk at Wat Ban Tad killed in fire

Sad News indeed, my wife, who spends much of her time at Wat Ban Thad and in fact only moved from there to the Temple at Sawang Daeng Din only last week. She will be visiting Wat Ban Thad today to pay her respects. She spends time at both Temples helping in the kitchens preparing meals for the monks...
