Re: Here we go again

Here's an interesting side bar. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

This might help solve some of the debate on language used to describe an extension of temporary stay. It's the title of the TM-7 which is submitted requesting an extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom. For those of you who do not have this form, you can complete it here online and print it out t...

Re: Help!

David, just today I noticed a Dog Spa on the opposite side of the Big'C across the flyover. When you enter the vacant market complex there just to the left of the motorcycle shop you will see signs out front for the dog spa. I'm not certain they would take care of your pet, but you can ask and they ...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Therefore, for those of us who are legally married, we should change our reason from retirement to marriage to extend our 12 month stay to avoid the insurance requirement while at the same time reducing our proof of income from 800,000 baht to 400,000 baht with no requirement to leave a portion in ...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

I have read a number of times this most recent Police Order which contains 11 pages, the first 6 of which are in Thai and the last 5 in English. Only the 2nd page of the English translation is applicable to any discussion about an insurance requirement for those applying for an extension of stay, an...

Re: PEA bill payment via app

I paid my PEA bill several times using their app, and it's too detailed and time consuming. I now pay using the Krung Thai Bank NEXT app, and it's a very simple process. I can also pay my Provincial Water Authority bill on NEXT.

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

So, if I'm understanding all this correctly, one who came to Thailand on a Non-Immigrant O-A and has extended their 12 month stay for several years on the basis of retirement, that person can apply for a change of visa to Non-Immigrant O at the time of their extension renewal and be granted a 90 da...

Lucky you. 9 out of ten things i look for on there, they do not have. Suppose my interests are a bit weird. The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, DC, USA now has the updated insurance requirement in their details pertaining to the issuance of Non-Immigrant O-A Visas. The next to last sentence on the page says "A one-year extension of stay shall be granted at the discretion of the immigration officer to th...

Re: Warning : Non OA converted to Non O based on retirement

I have always been perplexed that Immigration would require only 400,000 for an extension based on Marriage and 800,000 for an extension based on retirement. Makes no sense to me. Now what makes sense is if you consider that the 800,000 for retirement would be divided into 400,000 for income and 400...

Re: Warning : Non OA converted to Non O based on retirement

Peter, this does not make any sense to me and it very confusing. How and why would anyone enter on a Non-Immigrant O-A and then convert to a Non-Immigrant O? I enterered 9 years ago on a Non-Imm O-A and have extended for the past 8 years on the basis of Retirement. Are you saying that health insuran...
