Changes to income requirements re settlement visas to the UK
The UK Chancellor made his statement on migration to the UK parliament yesterday, much of it I welcomed. However, for those Brits thinking of bringing their Thai or foreign spouses back to the UK, to reside/settle, there was a nasty sting in the tail of the proposed changes (effective from Spring 20...

Re: Buying or exchanging foreign currency when in Laos
I sometimes watch an aussie youtuber who has the channel 'now in laos'. I remember him talking about currently exchange not long ago and stating that it is not possible to exchange Laos kip outside of Laos. He was also talking about a crackdown on people holding dollars and baht and you are only pe...

Buying or exchanging foreign currency when in Laos
Does anyone know the up to date situation on buying or exchanging foreign currency when in Laos, or indeed when Laos people wish to travel to Thailand or further afield? I understand due to the fall of the Laos Kip over the last couple of years the Laos central bank has tightened systems and require...

Re: Another reason to wash your hands properly
What puzzles me are toilets where you wash your hands, often with the advantages of an automatic tap, yet you then have to pull, (touch) the door handle, along with everyone else, to get out of the wash rooms, which then rather undermines the benefits of washing your hands!

Re: Blood Pessure (Hypertension) Meds
In terms of diet, my research says, minimise/avoid saturated fats, red meats, dairy (milk), processed foods, burgers, crisps, sugar and alcohol (which turns to sugar in the body), and aim at low a carb diet. Eat lots of oily fish, salmon, veg, inc leafy green veg, and eat white meats, e.g. chicken i...

If it is of any help or guidance, a Cardiologist at AEK put me on Losartan 50mgs back in 2014 due to my BP being high (after having driven from Nong Khai in monsoonal rainstorms!) Upon returning to the UK in 2015, my GP continued the Losartan same dosage, but since then about a year or two ago, adde...

Re: Brexit fallout just gets worse and worse
Firstly , UK did not vote to leave the EEC, it voted to leave the European Union. Whereas IMO. the EEC was a beneficial trading block , the EU became involved in trying to control all aspects of peoples lives. The EU never posted a budget account, and millions of cash went unaccounted for. The comm...

Re: UK travel report
Returning Thailand - Immigration was not to busy, but as i am now over 70 used the priority lane just to the right of the main entry - no queue. Definitely for me in future. Thanks for the update on the UK. I live there now and couldn't disagree with anything you said! Hotels, restaurants and trave...

Re: Could this be the best place to Retire?
Glalt, Interesting to hear your perceptive and that you live in the Boonies near Loei. When I previously lived in Udon and Nong Khai, I/we did briefly look at Loei, but I was put off by the fact that there wasn't much going in in Loei itself, we couldn't find anywhere to live there, that there were ...

Thanks, but as far as I can see that is out of date. An actual check only shows flights involving two legs, (via Don Muang).the-monk wrote: ↑January 29, 2023, 9:12 pmCheck this link. Stay safe.

Flights to/from U-Tapao
Can anyone give me an update on the possibility of flights to/from U-Tapao (Pattaya) to Udon Thani or Loei?
Or even U-Tapao to Vientiane.
Also U-Tapao to Chaing Mai?
Currently, I can find nothing for the former on the likes of Expedia.

Are there any flights from BKK (Swampy) to Loei, or does one have to fly from Don Muang? Similarly can one fly to U-Tapao from Loei, or just from Udon? There seems to be only 2 daily flights from/to Loei and that is AirAsia to Don Muang. Also there are no flights from U-Tapao to anywhere in Issan. ...

Re: NO BA Flights until 2023 at LEAST !!
Fine by me, Alan, I've never been a fan of BA. Yes agreed, BA have a terrible reputation. Though if BA had resumed flying the LHR - BKK route sooner, that would have increased the number of seats available and might have helped keep prices lower, (more competition and all that). Currently, both EVA...
