Re: Choosing a bank

Not sure if this is relevant, Whistler, but you went to the same bank and branch (Kasikorn, Phosi Rd.) where I had a problem with their management in 2013 - see the thread "800K Banking Facility" page2. Cheers, Tom

In BanDung, Mr. Chanwit Nonkhuketkhong tel 042-271150 (mob0898411129) certified some documents for my wife in Sept 2019, and this was accepted by the Certified Documents Team of ANZ Bank. Cheers, Tom

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Having digested sometimewoodworker's excellent explanation (thanks!), I now suspect that the lady I spoke to was not suggesting I apply for an O visa, but suggesting that my next annual extension of stay could be based on marriage to a Thai, even though previous extensions were based on retirement. ...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

My wife was with me and participated in the discussion (in Thai as well as English), so a miscommunication was quite likely. Perhaps the IO believed that we had married recently, rather than seven years ago.

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Welcome back, Jack. Today I did my 90 day report (2 days late, but no charge if not more than 1 week overdue!) and then spoke to the young lady in the last booth about medical insurance. She said that I would need it to get a further extension of stay based on my OA visa, but suggested that, if I di...

Re: Trying to understand TM30 in Udon - if possible

In June I attended the Udon Immigration Office where this conversation took place - IO(perusing my passport) "You already have 90 Day report date in August", ME "Yes", "IO "So why did you come here today?", ME "To tell you I returned to Udon yesterday after one week in hotels in Songkhla", IO(smilin...

Jack, in March 2018 we paid THB609K for Suzuki New Swift auto with cruise control - you are welcome to come and see it. For extra 20K we could have had "Navi" model with 7inch touchscreen. Cheers, Tom (not dead yet)

My first Thailand driving licence was issued at age 73, valid for 1 year, renewed at age 74 for 5 years, renewed again at age 79, valid until my 84th birthday. :D

Use a vpn to pretend you are in Melbourne or Sydney, then www.sbs.com.au for live streaming every game and replay of any game you missed. Lots of other good stuff there also.

Re: 2018 World Cup in Russia

So, other things being equal, the side with least yellow cards gets promoted to knock-out stage (Colombia progress, Senegal go home). I wonder if this rule accounts for the apparent reluctance of referees to produce yellow cards during the group stage.

Re: 2018 World Cup in Russia

Have the World Cup referees been instructed to avoid sending anyone off? Boateng's tripping of Berg, the Swedish No9, inside the penalty area early in the 1st half, looked like a straight red card offence but was unpunished: it took two further offences for him to be sent off. And half way through t...
