Re: Home Broadband Internet Speeds

Capture3.PNG Of all the references on this thread I don’t see anybody disputing there is a difference between MBps and Mbps and perhaps vital to know in some important circumstances. If your post and that of “the-monk” are intended for supplementary information purposes then I could understand or i...

All the speed checkers I have seen and have used use the lower case Mbps version so I am not clear on what you mean. Could you amplify on your comment?

I was specifically talking about home broadband as in a service arriving by cable/fibre. I would be very interested to know more about how AIS is using its 5G wireless connectivity program to enhance the cable/fibre throughput. Can you explain more?

Home Broadband Internet Speeds

I am sure we have the whole range of computer/internet savvy people amongst us here in Udon and this just might be useful to some of you along that spectrum. I live quite near the centre of town and could probably have chosen from any of the home internet broadband only services offered but on Fuzzy...

Learning the Thai language- internet resources

For anybody who has taken the study of the Thai language into the intermediate or beyond stages it is soon apparent that there is not an abundance of material available that provides both audio and parallel text references. There is no doubt that https://www.aakanee.com is outstanding in this regard...

Re: 5 Year Renewal of Driver's License

Just in case you are about to renew your 5-year license at the Udon-Aek branch of the Land Transport operation I can confirm that the information given by recent posters on the subject remains correct. I merely add some amplification. I have to admit I really doubted the concept that if you waited u...

Never thought I would actually get the confirmation I sought but thought I would give it one more whirl… and bingo thank you very much Tamada – I sign off on this subject thanks to you until such time as a new layer of confusion is emroidered in the tapestry which could always be tomorrow of course.

Trying to understand TM30 in Udon - if possible

There are two “live” threads on this forum directly or indirectly about the TM30. One started by myself which indicates that the TM30 is largely in absentia in these parts Same, same at Udon immigration… well almost! https://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=50487 but then the follo...

Same, same at Udon immigration… well almost!

Realising that there have been official changes in immigration policies and/or renewed interest in enforcing long-standing policies (viz. TM30), ahead of my 8th annual extension of permission to stay on the basis of retirement I tried to predetermine what I might need to change in terms of documents...

Re: Beware of Lazada.

I have been an occasional Lazada customer for about three years now and yes, I have sometimes had problems but overall a very beneficial service. However, I offer a heads up for those who have not experienced the problem that I encountered for the first time (on two occasions) this year. Sellers are...

Large shoe sizes at second-hand shoe outlets

I refer here to large as larger than size 10 (US or UK) or in European size larger than 45. A few years ago, I went to Robinson’s in Central Plaza and bought a pair of Nike trainers. At that time, they only had one pair in a large size that fitted me (maybe they have a wider selection nowadays). I p...

Any input from those experienced in studying the Thai language and culture?

I happened to click on the link advertising a new 5 star hotel in the Udon vicinity and I saw a fairly brief passage in English followed by what I thought was a translation of the English into Thai or vice a versa. Here is the link https://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/viewtopic.php?p=530858#p53085...

Tradition

As today is Constitution Day in Thailand I made the effort to duckduckgo (a serious plug for a break with an early 21st century tradition) and discovered that the Queen of England is older than the current Thai constitution. Due to my ignorance of Thai history (I had a rough idea of how old the Quee...

Re: Internet Provider.

Where you are located is clearly very important and so my answer may not be of any help depending on where the OP is. In downtown Udon I have found AIS, as recommended by another good downtown friend, to have performed beyond expectations over the last year and a half. They offer a 10% discount if b...

Solus 3 is also worth a look. It offers extremely easy and quick installation and has Firefox and the full Libre Office suite installed from the get go. For the basics you are up and running immediately. I have read a number of positive reviews on it also. I installed Solus 3 Budgie without any glit...
