Re: Are Wellingtons Considered "Pies"?

I'm not a Brit so this may sound silly. When I was still working, my preferred foot ware were Wellington boots. They were maybe 8 or 10 inches high with a zipper on the side. They were not work boots, I would call them semi dress shoes. The only food named Wellington was beef cubes in gravy over mas...

Re: Retirement to Where

Someone broke it down to about 70,000 baht per month. That would be fairly close to actual living expenses although it is a little high. If you have pensions at that amount, you would be comfortable. Insurance is not mentioned and health insurance for old people is difficult to get not to mention ve...

Re: Retirement to Where

Using those figures, no way could I afford to retire anywhere. As it is, I live as I wish here in Thailand from just my pensions without touching my savings.

Re: COVID-19 Vaccination – Hypothetical

Yesterday I received an email from my sister in Ohio. Two of her sons who live in Indiana have had the virus. Both recovered quickly and the worst part for them was losing their sense of taste and smell. Both boys are healthy young men. My sister and her husband have been lucky so far.

Re: Will Trump concede?

Many of the existing refineries were designed to process heavy crude and cannot even process light sweet crude without being mixed with heavy crude. Canadian oil is no different than much of the crude oil from Venezuela and Mexico. The fake news stating that Canadian is much dirtier is simply a lie.

Re: Will Trump concede?

Like it or not, Canadian crude oil is going to reach the market. Via pipeline is the cheapest and safest way but if not via pipeline, by rail or road, or in the case of the California refineries by sea. Canada can and will build pipeline capacity from the oil fields to the sea. The Chinese will be m...

Re: Will Trump concede?

Cancelling the XL Pipeline is going to make more lawyers rich. I would expect hundreds of huge law suits asking for damages because of Biden's stroke of the pen. Who is going to pay for the billions of dollars already invested? What will happen to the sections already completed? Will Canada try to r...

Re: Will Trump concede?

As you well know, or should know, Trump had a whole stable of high powered tax attorneys. They used every loop hole possible. That's the kind of tax code that needs revised. Closing those huge loopholes should be a priority.. It's not the corporations or companies that should be paying high taxes. T...

Re: Will Trump concede?

Only time will tell how much damage Biden's pen has already caused to the taxpayers. Carry on. B*gger all if the tax avoiders actually paid their share =; Corporations provide needed jobs. I think it would be a big mistake to stick it to companies by having them pay huge taxes. I have no problem ta...

Re: Witch Hunt part deux... The Second Impeachment

The first big question is how can they impeach a president who is no longer president? May be their hate Trump campaign will continue to keep them busy and prevent more damaging laws.

Re: Will Trump concede?

As suspected, Uncle Joe is being led by the nose by the socialists. In addition to already killing the oil industry and losing high paying jobs, the flood gates are now open for illegals. Hopefully the printing presses won't break down before before they pass massive tax increases. Scary times ahead.

Re: The source of the coronvirus??

I have an opinion also. I think mad Chinese scientists were playing with dangerous viruses. They strictly by accident let this out of the lab not knowing what they created or what it would do. I'd also bet that these people were quickly executed and we'll never really know what happened. The evidenc...

Re: US Presidential election odds

My old friend (RIP) bought one of those plastic chairs with armrests. He cut the legs off enough that he could sit and cross his legs in front of him Thai style. Using the arm rests, he was able to get up by himself. Wherever he went the chair went with him in the back of his pickup truck.

Re: Post Covid ecomony

Unfortunately there are no experts. Their opinions vary as much as board member opinions. There are no easy workable answers. How long will it take for herd immunity? This virus thing will have to run its course hopefully with help from vaccines. How long will it take for the world economies to reco...

Re: The Times they are a changing ..

This is Thailand and they may have a very good chance of legalized gambling. In the years before an individual was adamantly opposed to it so the idea was quickly dropped. Now with the old individual gone, they may be able to do it after this virus thing is over with.
