Re: Proof of Address letters

I need a couple of letters from immigration for proof of address in Thailand, one in Thai and one in English. Apart from me and my passport, do they accept the pink ID car and yellow book and Thai DL, or do they need something more like the hosting blue tibian bahn , wife's ID cards, witnesses or o...

Re: AIr COnditioning

I had a small 9,000 BTU standard air con in the bedroom. It worked perfectly for at least ten years even though it was a bit undersized. I replaced it with the LG inverter when it became noisy. It was still working fine except for the noise. I now wish I had stuck with Samsung. The LG remote control...

Re: AIr COnditioning

My bad experience. I bought a Panasonic inverter, I think it was a 12,500 BTU. It worked fine for about ten months then started to have some strange problems. Service from the store came out and checked it. They told me everything was normal. It was still acting strange. They came back out within ab...

Re: climate change

There is no doubt in my mind that man has upset the natural balance of our globe. One of the main reasons stems from pure greed. Destroying the rain forests is a huge contributor. We will never be able to plant enough trees to put nature back in balance nor will windmills and solar replace oil. Capt...

Re: Brexit has saved

I'm not a Brit, just an observer. If it were my country, I would resent a huge bureaucratic group making rules for my country. I certainly would have supported leaving. Obviously the majority of Brits felt the same way.

Re: RTP - Body Cameras

I have had more good experiences with the Thai police than bad. One example was that I was driving in a bus lane while heading for a dinner cruise on a boat that happened to be on the other side of the big river. A policeman on a motorcycle pulled me over. Fortunately he spoke decent English. My nav...

Re: Future energy sources?

Until they can extract hydrogen from air economically, major hydrogen use is out of reach. Extracting hydrogen with electricity is somewhat promising but not yet unless the electricity is generated from renewables such as wind and solar. Then there is still the problem of how to transport and store ...

Re: Private Property Rights

People have gone on extended vacations, come home and find their homes broken into and occupied by squatters who have changed the locks. Following the liberal laws takes them more than four months to recover their by then severely damaged homes. The liberal laws stink to high heaven. I wouldn't blam...

Re: Future energy sources?

The world will NEVER run out of oil. There are many new proved deposits discovered ever year. The doom and gloom reports that oil deposits are finite is just ignorant or maybe stupid to increase oil prices. Oil usage will eventually fall due to environmental problems and not because of shortages.

Re: US Presidential election odds

I won't be voting this election. I would be ashamed to vote for Biden or Trump. The only other option would be RFK and he is insane. Dirty corruption in politics is now the norm and the country is suffering from it.

Re: Do you smoke marijuana?

I have a good friend who is a pothead. He was diagnosed with liver cancer. He went through all the chemo therapy and went so far as to have a radioactive BB put into his liver. He appears to have beat the cancer. He said that the pot was his only relief from the sickness. I myself don't use pot main...

These home owners have a deed and their taxes are paid up. How can that property be considered abandoned?

Private Property Rights

Squatters are in the US news lately. It appears that the squatters have more rights than the legal property owners due to liberal laws, especially like in NYC. What has it come to when a person has no rights to protect their legally owned property? I can see that home owners will soon be going to ja...

Re: Bank Account Opening

I had a friend who retired here. SCB refused to open an account for him. He wanted that SCB branch because it was close to where he lived. I took him to the Immigration office in Jomtien and told a guy working there the story. He wrote a very short note in Thai on a scrap of paper and told my friend...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

I still have my untouched nest egg in my US bank. I also had a substantial balance in my expendable savings account. I did put a large dent in that account by buying a nice condo in the farang ghetto of Jomtien and depositing the 800,000 baht in my Thai bank. As it is now, I have a very comfortable ...

Re: TAX on Income from Abroad

Speculation is the same as guessing. Thailand actively encourages new retirees and taxing pensions would certainly affect retiring here. It is true that Thailand wants retirees who can afford to support themselves. That's the reason they require 800,000 .baht in a Thai bank or 65,000 baht monthly in...
