...The United Kingdom paid off in full on December 29, 2006, two days early (to avoid the weekend). "The last payment was made on 29 December 2006 for the sum of about $83m USD (£45.5m) to the United States, and about $23.6m USD (£12m) to Canada; the 29th was chosen as it was the last working day o...

Re: D-Day Anniversary

"During World War II the Government was again forced to borrow heavily in order to finance war with the Axis powers. By the end of the conflict Britain's debt exceeded 200 percent of GDP, as it had done after the end of the Napoleonic Wars.[5] As during World War I, the US again provided the major ...

Re: D-Day Anniversary

America mobilized 12 million soldiers — about the same number as did the Soviet Union, despite having a population of about 40 million fewer citizens. American war ...

We had one when I was a kid on the farm. Used primarily as a grain truck but was also a medium duty truck for general hauling.

"On July 2, 1776, the Second Continental Congress, still meeting in Philadelphia, voted unanimously to declare independence as the "United States of America". Two days later, on July 4, Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence." Prior to that time all American colonists were under the rule o...

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

I think your observations are "spot on". People are staying home and vendors are seeing very little "traffic". Once they've folded it will be very difficult to restart as the entire production and supply line will have been disrupted. Hard times getting harder. I'm glad you posted the Thai script fo...

Re: 90 day reporting

Was there yesterday. Took about three minutes to do the 90 day report. It's a pretty easy process to report in person for those who live in the general area of the city. A far cry from the days when we had to fill out the reporting form and drive to Nong Khai and get in the queue.

Re: Quarantine for domestic travel ?

We were on a fishing trip to Koh Kut/Kood a dozen or so years ago when the yellow shirts shut down DM airport in Bangkok and we were stranded there. We elected to have a taxi drive us to Udon Thani. I believe it was about ฿6,000 back then for the trip. Probably a little more today. Pleasant trip.
