Re: US Sports News

I believe the Washington Senators lost the 1933 World Series to the NY Giants so yes, it's been a long, long time. This is the Nationals first World Series in franchise history. A Nats vs Astros would be a good matchup. I still have trouble remembering that the Astros are now an American League team...

Re: US Sports News

The Nats dominated the Cards the entire series and definitely earned their spot in the MLB World series. Nice to see a Washington DC club make it to the big show.

Re: US Sports News

It was over almost before it started. Cardinals scored 10 runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Braves 13 to 1.
They now move on to the National League Championship Series, facing the winner of today's Nationals vs Dodgers game.

Re: US Sports News

I was living and working in St. Louis when Yadi was called up in 2004. He has improved steadily the past 16 years. Went to a lot of games at the old Busch Stadium and watching his defensive and offensive skills was a treat. Several times I've seen him make at "pick-off" at first base throwing from a...

Re: US Sports News

In 1976 I was living south of Houston (Bay City, Texas) and an Astros vs Pirates game in the Astrodome was canceled due to rain. Actually, it rained so hard that the streets flooded and people couldn't get to the ballpark so the game was called. I think that was the only time a game was canceled due...

Re: US Sports News

My StL Cardinals clinched the National League Central Division and the Major League Baseball playoffs begin NOW. Born and raised in Missouri, the StL Cardinals have always been my favorite MLB team. Musial & Schoendienst were my first baseball heroes. I also liked the KC A's and Royals but if both ...

Yes, แมง (maang/maeng) is just the Thai prefix for bug and arthropod names.

แมงหัวแข็ง (maang hua khang), literally "hard head bug" commonly called "stem boring grub". In Isaan it's called แมงกอก (maang gawk) = olive bug. Mrs. Shado says they are often found in the local olive trees.

The collapse of Fosun Group’s flagship European investment, Thomas Cook, is proving to be a reality check for the Chinese conglomerate’s ambitions to create a global travel empire via flashy acquisitions. After months of talks to hammer out a $1.1 billion bailout package, Shanghai-based Fosun -- the...

Was there about 30 minutes ago to do the 90 day report. All of three minutes at most. No one ahead of me at the 90 day report desk and maybe two or three at the processing desks. No one in the "waiting" chairs.

I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks and we listened to the "Opry" on radio ever since I can remember. When I think about "Ode to Billy Joe" being a number one hit 52 years ago, the passage of time really starts to come in focus.

Perhaps I'm reading the data wrong but it looks to me that Huai Luang reservoir has a current volume of 44 mcm and is at 32% of maximum storage level with 27% of the maximum volume being usable. Thanks for including the link to the data report. Nice to be able to see how the rains are impacting our ...
