Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

For Brits. Just had a quick look at the RTE website in London and, also tried the Consulate website in Hull. Good news appears to be that Hull now appears to be issuing visas again. I had found them extremely helpful previously and was disappointed when everything had to be d/w on line with the Emba...

Re: Mandatory health insurance for Non O-A visa effective from 31 October

Interesting point jackspratt. I am in a similar position and will be leaving Thailand over xmas. I could be wrong but, given that you, like me, have permission to stay until 2020 and hold a re-entry permit, I cannot see how they can ask for insurance until after this permission to stay expires. This...

Re: Why oa visa

You can only get a retired Visa if on state pension Is that the criteria at the Thai Embassy in London? Receiving a UK state pension? It was when I applied in June 2018 (see separate thread). I am presently on the 2nd year of my OA visa and, on its expiry, will need to give thought as to how I appl...

Yes. It's a Santander Zero Card and, my experience has been that the rate has always been better than local exchange.

Re: ANYONE USED SUPERRICH TO EXCHANGE £ NOTES TO BAHT

Some cards, including Santander CC, give fee free cash from ATMs - although you need to put money in your account beforehand. The exchange rate is usually similar to Transferwise which is amongst the best available

Re: Ashes 2019

You really think the Aussie batters are good enough to get 400 Barney? My crystal ball says England will bowl your lot out cheaply with Smith finally running out of luck. The Ashes were won by a combination of Smith's brilliance and moments of good fortune (including winning some important tosses). ...

Take that back Statto.

Come across Sir Geoff on several occasions (most recently in July) and the guy is a legend.

Re: RooJai Car and Motorbike Insurance

Just a heads up and, no big deal but, called to cancel my insurance today as I am replacing with a new vehicle with insurance via dealer. Apparently, if you cancel in the first year you get a rebate but, they deduct the THB 1000 voucher given when taking out the policy. Seemed fair enough! Generally...

Re: Ashes 2019

Could have been a different story but for the no ball. Smith got lucky a few times but, he was the only class cricketer on show.

Great news from the Palace. At last its Sir Geoffrey!

Re: Glasses or Optician

Not Udon but, Khon Kaen and shows the value of shopping around. Lost my prescription sun glasses and went to Central with an old frame looking for new lenses. Complication is that I return to UK on Tuesday and, need before. First shop (independent). Can do but THB 2500 (equivalent in UK for my presc...

Re: Dual-pricing for foreigners now legal at Thai public hospitals

Just wondering.......

Anyone on here or other forums bleating about this. Do they also bleat about those nasty brown people coming to the UK and availing themselves of the UKs NHS when they havent "contributed to the system all their lives". Double standards??

Re: Bang Pa-In to Khorat Expressway

Travelled back from Pak Chong yesterday and took a bit more notice! It has actually progressed more than I thought and, there are stretches which look near completion. The disruption on the old highway isn't as bad as it was, presumably because most of the groundwork is complete. No expert in these ...

Re: Bang Pa-In to Khorat Expressway

In Pak Chong now and travelled down via Korat yesterday. Last passed this way in February and, yes, its progressing but I wouldn't say its startlingly changed since my last visit. The most noticeable change is that parts of the highway now have street lights but it is far from completion.

Re: Grass Roots Footie 2018/19

There is plenty of doubt and, also plenty to suggest that it was endemic in the game for half a decade. If Revie was guilty, he wasnt alone but, because of his problems with the FA, he was singled out by the authorities and their pets in the media..... another example of my original point..

Re: Grass Roots Footie 2018/19

Hmm. Underachievers? In my lifetime, 3 times champions of England and 3 European Cups/ Champions League semi finals (as well as a few cup wins). Off the top of my head, apart from the traditional big 3 and the new money of Chelsea and Man City, I dont think any other club comes close. Glad you said ...

Re: Grass Roots Footie 2018/19

Nah. The EFL is infinitely worse. They have continually made their own rules to demote and keep LUFC out of the Prem because we are their cash cow.
