Re: America's history

One wonders if the common soldier in the Confederate army owned slaves or ever expected to. But many were willing to fight for inspirational leaders such as Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and Jeb Stuart. And, they were certainly willing to fight to defend their families, homes, possessions et al f...

Re: Bangkok protests

JS lets get back to the basics and on track My post was specifically about Foreign involvement in other Countries where that Foreigner is a Guest. It had nothing to do with the rights or the wrongs of the reason for the protest. Correct me if I am wrong. I have and I remain opposed to foreign inter...

Is there any good news coming from Tasmania on the plight of the pilot whales? The whales seem hell-bent on dying despite the best efforts of Tasmanians to save them.

Re: America's history

And there was me thinking we were talking american history . ' Look at the Vietnam war . only 11% of Americans were black, but nearly 17% of the forces were black, the also suffered a disproportionate amount of casualties because of this.' That is not much of a difference, is it? Who were the other...

Re: Bangkok protests

Sorry, but the peasants are not ignorant. They have stood up for their rights for decades. Do some research on the Peasants Federation of Thailand in the 70s, and peasant movements in Isaan. There has been one national politician who promoted and improved the life of people in the countryside albeit...

Re: EPL Banter Thread

This is a quaint name for a sponsor - kazoo - and they even spelt it incorrectly. On the other hand, one can imagine the squad sitting around the campfire in the early evening roasting marshmallows and singing and playing their kazoos to the tune of 'Ferry Across the Mersey'.

Re: Bangkok protests

It seems the protesters were successful in re-installing a plaque commemorating the transition to a more democratic country in 1932. In all, it seemed a peaceful event and included a wide variety of groups who also supported the red shirt view of things, gay rights and so on

This is true. Furthermore, the oil workers and cowboys are big on kale and yogurt with a cup of Lipton's tea to wash it down with.

Ditch the lettuce and tomatoes and you will have a proper U.S./Canadian breakfast. I think it is the British who go for those unwanted items in the morning.

I see that the former British colony of Barbados has seen fit to toss the British crown aside. =D>
The time is well overdue for Australia to do the same.
However, Australians can stand proud that they have a nicer flag than the Bajans.

Re: school fees

i do not ever remember teachers in any of my schools selling anything . I remember a high school geography teacher in Toronto who sold winter coats to students and staff. In the stores, the coats cost over $200. He sold them for $70. It all seemed a bit odd, but the coats were good quality. I bough...

Re: U.S. Politics

All Woodward had to do to verify Trump's words was to play the tape. It is very difficult trying to understand what Trump hoped to gain by speaking the truth to the reporter.

Keep up LYM. We've spent a lot of money on some chaps who can find the back of the net. Preseason Everton supporters' hopes are high. By the way, I'm not Catholic. During the 1950s and 1960s, Everton became known as the Catholic club mainly as a result of successful Irish players such as Tommy Egli...

Re: U.S. Politics

Silly rabbit. Now the far right wants to blame Bob Woodward for not telling the American people sooner what Trump should have told them in the first place about the Covid-19. Once again it's someone else's fault, not Trump's. Deflection. Blame the person Trump told. Can't make this s*** up. Well, i...
