Cardiac Presentation and Best Practice

I practice internal medicine in the US and until this year was the Chief of Medicine at a local hospital. As to how much stenting or a bypass should cost is almost impossible to make meaningful comparisons. Of course, here in the US the cost is clearly ridiculous and no person can pay out of pocket....

Re: Is there a future for Carrefour in Udon ?

I am so sorry for asking such a basic question. But, I can not quite figure out where Carrefour is on the map of Udon. I read in a previous post that I may be able to pick up some non-alcoholic beer there and would like to do so, but I don't know the lay out of the city very well.

Re: queue jumping

Trying to get in the door of the bus was like something I have never seen before - I and lived some time in China, where I thought the world's best queue jumpers all reside. I, being of Chinese heritage, am embarrassed to say, that I agree with jackspratt 100%. The Chinese particularly from Mainlan...

Location of the orphange

One of my best friends the last time he was in Udon visited a local orphanage. I have been promising myself that I would drop by and make a donation. Does anyone know where on the Udon map it is?

Flu season is just ending now. They make the new flu shot each year specifically to try to combat the flu that they believe will come in Dec-Feb. So really no reason to get vaccinated now. If you are one of the people who are recommended to be vaccinated then get your new about next October/November.

Well, I think not very good student either. Already 31 and still only 3rd year at the university. He is about 10 years behind in school ... going to be a lot further behind I think now.

When in Bangkok last, loads of indians frequenting the gogo bars, the Chinese just seem to want to walk around and not go in. Presumably different cultures require different outings into the Thai nightlife to get a stiffy. Plenty of juju's in the bars. I think though many of the Chinese tourist are j...

Avoiding electrocution and power surges

I am sure this topic has previously been discussed, but I was not able to find it. I believe it is common practice to local Thai people to unplug everything not in use (except of course the refrigerator). I assume this is to prevent ruining the device due to power spikes. However, recently I heard a...

I always wonder what eventually happens to these unfortunate people. When a ex-pat ends up at the embassy, if he has already spent all his money and assests, do they still help send him to his home country so he can be broke and homeless there?

Luk Thung bars/restaurants

Usually few farangs go to Thai Country Music venues (Luk Thung Bars/Restaurants). But, I was wondering if there were any good ones in Udon Thani?

Oh I hope I didn't come off as a pessimistic anit-thai farang. I am always so happy when I am in the Land of Smiles and come every 12 weeks. But I th...

The Farang Involvement Fee

There are so many different ways that, as a Farang, that you will be expected/forced to pay when ever something unfortunate happens even if you have no fault what-so-ever. For example, someone hits a vehicle you are in, someone hits a vehicle you own, someone is injured on your property (even if try...

But I think guys who ask for advice really do not want to hear the likely truth, they want people to tell them that they are not crazy. Seems to me that we would be doing them a dramatic dis-service if we told them all that type of crap. Funny thing is, just last month a dear friend of mine travele...

I agree with Stevo. I worry that Justan does not realize he can not buy a house, can not buy land, can not work and can not stay more than a very limited number of days. Best to rent a nice room place and enjoy a nice vacation.

All the above is good advice. I just want to make sure you do not take colchicine 500 mg. It actaully doesnt even come 500 mg. It comes in 0.5 and 0.6 mg (500 micrograms not milligrams) Usually, most people can tolerate that amont 2 or 3 times a day. You can take more but then you will get some diar...

Almost any anti-fungal cream should just fine. An anti-inflamitory with it sometime makes the redness reduce faster but does really aid in killing fungus. Indeed Lamasil does occasionally kill some resistant fungus and I personally would try that. But more importantly I would emphasize that you shou...
