Good read here without the histrionics. It notes that veterinarians "have generally stopped using nitrogen to euthanize animals, who showed severe signs of distress." Tam, From my Scuba Diving days, there is a potentially fatal symptom called Nitrogen Narcosis. This is caused by the bloodstream abs...

Re: Careful what you wish for
Killing people legally is still killing people, I find the concept barbaric. For some to suggest it should be a painful process is simply awful. Over thousands of years, countless 'Legal' killings have tortured many to death, in the process many thousands have been wrongfully executed. Glalt, what ...

Re: Careful what you wish for
The reason for not giving the guy in the OP the needle was they couldn't find a vein. Maybe they didn't try hard enough as you don't hear much about folks in hospital having too torrid a time getting a drip, infusion or a transfusion because of this vein problem to the point they give up. Try anothe...

Re: Careful what you wish for
Been thinking about that after hearing of this earlier in the week. Last week we had a close family relation, 54yo, have a stroke. He was transported to the Udon General Hospital but at 02:00, the following morning, the doctors handed him back to the family, severe brain damage, with an oxygen bott...

Re: Future energy sources?
Whistler .Again, hear what you are saying but don't see installation costs, building costs (unless you have plenty spare rooms), replacement costs and it assumes your house is already in the correct orientation for maximum efficiency of the panels. Just reread Glaits post, Glait if you had a reliabl...

Re: Future energy sources?
Installing water spray bars at the same time as mounting solar panels is perhaps an option Whistler. Yes it will help but also adds to the installation costs. I did a cost comparison last year (wife convinced that solar power is free) Allowing for a 5% annual price increase in conventional electric...

Re: Future energy sources?
Would doubt it Whistler, the only real maintenance on solar panels is cleaning them. I would be interested to know how much performance drops of as the dust etc builds up on the panels. Not much maintenance needed on batteries (the odd top up if unsealed lead acid) even less on lithium units. Invert...

Re: Future energy sources?
Good, but how modern is "modern, Whistler? But what is their survival rate in destructive hurricanes or typhoons. How much will it cost to replace older wind turbines. Then there are always the days when there is insufficient wind to get them turning and producing electricity. Its the same with sola...

Re: Future energy sources?
Hear what you say Tam. Whether broken or turned off to prevent damage due to high winds they were not turning, therefor 'not' producing electricity. Weather dependent therefor not guaranteed. I to have enjoyed watching salmon swimming up the Pitlochry dam fish lift but older people say the number of...

Re: Future energy sources?
No reported problems. Last energy crises was when there was a disruption on gas being piped from Russia. That storm must have the wind turbines spinning like tops. 55 Whistler Probably because they brought the conventional power stations online to provide the necessary energy. Agree that solar and ...

Re: Future energy sources?
Alex, happy to read any rebuttal you may have on the subject. No rebuttal's Whistler, I just disagree that batteries and the other forms of weather dependent energy production systems are the way forwards for mankind. Sure utilise solar and wind but do you really want to be dependent on weather. Sol...

You really need help, you have convinced yourself that you are the all-knowing, only correct being on UM. Just point to one question you have ever given an honest answer to. Its a bit sad really. Wasn't abuse, its my absolute thoughts/instincts of what you are.

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
So, let's assume that there was no command center. How about if Hamas just uses hospitals as storage for weapons and ammunition, and as launching sites for missiles? Weapons and ammunition are a far cry from a command centre and missile launching sites. So is it OK for Hamas to store weapons and am...

Re: Israel under attack from hamas, war declared.
I will ask you once again Pratty. How many Doctors, nurses, patients were killed, raped, beheaded or taken hostage in the alleged attack on the hospital by the IDF and is the hospital still operating as a hospital not just a ruin. Surely you are capable of understanding the question and can provide ...

Re: Future energy sources?
Whistler. Fine, the biggest Tesla battery storage system in Australia. What's the projected lifespan of the batteries? What do you do with the redundant batteries? How long will we allow children to work in abysmal conditions mining the base materials for these new and the replacement batteries? Wha...
