Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

Just a quicky:-
Can someone tell me if Makro Udon is fully open or half of it roped off like our BigC in Ban Dung. eg. No access to bedding, appliances, stationary etc.
Thank you

Re: Paying bills during the lockdown

Surely you have been here long enough to have internet banking and or a phone app for your bank? There's your answer!

I haven't left home to pay a bill of any sort or more years than I can remember.

Re: Alcohol sales ban

TW advised me, this morning, to stock up so into Ban Dung and my bottle shop. The owners daughter (speaks limited English) told me they had heard nothing??? Lao Khao was about the only stock I saw moving out of the place in any quantity, no problem getting a months supply of Leo for myself. [-o< Wen...

Re: Travel Restrictions Inside Thailand

I live on the 296 (orange) bus route between Udon and Kamtakla they appear to have stopped their service, along with the Baht buses which also service this route. A large number of residence are now cutoff from centres like Ban Dung where they do their shopping, seek medical attention etc.

Re: US unemployment record

IMHO Unemployment is going to be a World Wide problem of huge proportions. Eventually the masses will not tolerate it and mayhem will pursue with desperate providers not being able to tend the needs of their families. Still think Trumps assessment of a few days ago may be right:- "The cure could be ...

Take a drive to Ban Dung, BigC - Tesco and all the Mom and Pop stores stocked to the brim and on sale. Sadly, no customers!!!!!
In BigC today and near on deserted. Shelves FULLY stocked - all ancillary business closed including gold shops.

Sad times for local families.

Re: covid-19 mask

We know they are useless, Farang wearing a mask does not set us above the Thais as they perceive us to be by not using them. Not much of a price to pay for social harmony in these times.

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

Coming from both the Thai jungle drums, and farang jungle drums - and therefore unconfirmed at this point - an unwell farang is rumoured to have caught a bus yesterday from Bangkok to Ban Dung, where he resides in a village on the outskirts of the town. He reported to the BD hospital today, whereup...

Re: U.K. going on lockdown, USA stopping restricting movement. WTF

I'm no fan of Trump but on this point he does make sense but needs to find a balance. Attached is a queue of people into one of our Social Service (CentreLink) offices, recently laid off from their employment. So they have gone from a populated workplace generating income and profits to desperation....

KBank - International Transfer

Just had a text from Kasikornbank introducing a new service! Transfer funds from your Thai account to an International Bank using the smart phone app. 250 Baht per transaction. Tested it as far as I dare = works very well with good x-rates. Some 16 different currency's. The conversion is done here h...

GREAT for those of us who still maintain a USD account from our working days!

AUD tanked to 54 cents in 2003, 55 last Friday, near 59 today but still good for me.

Where did you hear about this?

Is there any credible confirmation?

It is important, because unconfirmed village rumours are not helpful in this sort of situation, and you have form.
It's identified in the map link you emailed to me.

Our local clinic is giving them away in very limited numbers and mainly to the elderly (locals ONLY). My step daughter has just taken delivery of 50 from Lazada, quite expensive at 800 Baht.
