I think you have to stay in the UK for 6 months to get the pension uprated.
It is only uprated whilst you are in the UK, once you leave again it reverts to what it was previously when you first left .

Re: Marriage Extension New Rule

^^ ^ Thanks for that Hoopoe and Old Grumpy. It's been maybe 10 years since I did a marriage extension at Udon and I vaguely remember the under consideration stamp. I recall way back then that the need to go back was a pain in the butt for some and along with the open encouragement from the IO's at ...

Re: stickman says ....

Cant argue with that Grumpy . spot on . Yeah Grumpy, whatever feeds your high horse mate. PS. Don't forget your (small) change. If maintaining the standards of my generation puts me on a high horse, so be it, that makes me proud, not ashamed. My only regret is that the tradition hasn't been passed ...

Re: stickman says ....

As for trying to get this obviously 'illegal' operation shut down, what if one of the benefactors of her 'scam' is an old gent, nice bloke, quiet, lived here for years, frozen pension, no other sustainable income, no home to go back to, bereft of any sort of financial safety net and barely self-ins...

Re: Immigration Office

I think it is nice to know ' other services ' are available..good on her to offer assistance..You dont have to accept / except. Perhaps the man with the 29yrs here, and no visa, wanting to exit homeside without getting caught, could have done with the lady's assistance..Look These things have been ...

Re: Immigration Office

needs a video and spread on social media.. That would bring such activity to a screaming halt.. In a civilised country possibly, but here no.I would think that there must be CCTV cameras throughout that office, so it would be apparent for anyone interested what is going on to see it, therefore one ...

Re: Immigration Office

This is not a comment on getting a visa but a general observation of the underhanded going ons in there . Went in earlier this week to renew my retirement visa, wasn't successful due to my stupidity in letting the balance fall below the 800k back in March, only for 7 days and only by 200bht, okay I ...

Transferwise.

Just opened an account with them, attracted by the savings they display as opposed to normal bank transfers . Haven't tried it yet anyone use them? How do you find it.Most on line reviews are quite positive but there are a few negative ones as well.

Re: Survey: many Thais feel lonely

Big difference between being alone and feeling lonely ! Loneliness is a frame of mind , nothing more . Said it before , and ill say it again , Social media is a cancer on society as we know it . Feel sorry for the youngsters of today .It will come to the stage where people will forget how to commun...

Re: Marriage Extension New Rule

Well the more I read the more confused I get, for the last 17years I have had a visa for retirement based on the embassy letter to show sufficient income, the last three years combined with money in bank because of the reduced exchange rate. Now this year without the letter from embassy, although I ...

Re: Marriage Extension New Rule

"we all know that is not true. Every officer will give a different answer" I'm with you on that, dragonz. Sadly, there lots of evidence to show one should exercise some caution over the reliability of information provided by Immigration, offices or officers. The youngish, fairly new, male officer as...
