Re: Which planet ...........

The term 'transportation' in Australia has a strong connotation, more so than the literal meaning of the word, I am sure AlexO understands this, but being a stubborn type, he refuses to acknowledge this. As this thread is about Australia and the deportation of a Scottish felon, the intention is clea...

Re: Parking for the weak hearted

any contemplation of revenge must be tempered with the knowledge that most of these parking lots have full video coverage. Damaging some noob's car in such a fashion would just lead to a video of you popping up on social media and a manhunt akin to tracking down a serial murdered to "get the farang...

Re: Which planet ...........

deportation and transportation are not synonyms. Nor is deportation a life ban. Overstay in Thailand and you will be deported, the duration of that depends on the length of the overstay. Ditto illegal entry in many, many countries where the ban may be for a few years. Transportation is totally diffe...

Spot on Jack, if I were alone.....

I did not want to frighten the wits out of wife and daughter, had a couple of lovely screwdrivers in the car too. Sadly no matchsticks available to assist tyre valves to exhale.

Parking for the weak hearted

Not sure why this week was worse than normal, I never say a bad word about Buddha, honest. On Friday I drove to Kut Chap to enjoy a coffee at Aoy's. OK parking spot in front of 7-11, so I signal, nothing close behind me but as I start to back in a truck trundles along and seeing my signal and revers...

Re: Which planet ...........

Over the past 20 odd years, the union movement has been close to being crushed. The rightist neo-cons have had control over legislature, introduced union bashing regulations. At the same time the right wing of the labor party in many countries, have pursued one thing and one thing only....personal p...

Re: Which planet ...........

Is that the same Whitehaven that the Scots-born US Navy Commander burned to the ground before heading north to his home to steal a teapot? The 1st in a long line of Scottish tea-leafs? But only the stupid ones were caught and deported to Australia. Thus helping to dilute the massively Irish crimina...

Re: Myanmar coup

The waves of public protests I fear will only result in a brutal reaction. With similarities to another SE Asian country, the military brass live in luxury in an otherwise poor country. Push comes to shove, the will do whatever it takes to preserve their power and wealth. I think a wholesale slaught...

Re: Myanmar coup

These guys must have thought that Trump was sent from god. The so called beacon of democracy became a beacon of 'whatever it takes' politics. Burma can thumb it's nose at democracy citing the Americans trashing democratic norms. Would they have executed this coup anyway. Probably so, would they have...

Re: WWAN Experience in Thailand

Jack,

If your smartphone has the speed and capacity that you need, while you are at home, the WWAN will be OK. If you have wired WIFI, check your usage and see if that is available on your plan from the WIFI provider you plan to use.

Re: Will Trump concede?

Ken If Alberta was a country, it would be the 5th largest oil producer in the world. The oil sands pretty much produce the dirtiest oil in the world, but with the massive reserves in that province, no government is going to stop that awful operation. What may stop it is the drop in oil demand, cheap...

Re: Will Trump concede?

It's funny that you are worried about 1,000 temporary jobs glalt, where was your outrage when all those farmers had to file for bankruptcy due to Trump's trade war that accomplished nothing? These pipeline jobs were temporary, those farms had probably been operational for decades. Where is your out...

Re: Will Trump concede?

Cancelling the XL Pipeline is going to make more lawyers rich. I would expect hundreds of huge law suits asking for damages because of Biden's stroke of the pen. Who is going to pay for the billions of dollars already invested? What will happen to the sections already completed? Will Canada try to ...

Every day, more exposure of this truly vile man. Every day, more evidence of a moderate new POTUS. Today, in no uncertain terms, Biden told Ji what was important for the USA and the world, he has been tougher on calling out China than Trump ever did. China has over reached in the South China Seas, H...
