Hotel In Vientiane close to Thai Embassy
I will be traveling to Vientiane shortly to get a 60 day visa for my Pinay girlfriend. Any advice on a decent and reasonable hotel close to the embassy would be appreciated, as well as travel costs from the bridge to the hotel. I haven't been to Lao for a while.

Where Can I buy a Automobile CD Player and Speakers?
I would like to find a shop that sells Automobile CD players and acessories such as speakers, wire, etc, one that has a good inventory of different brands.
I would rather install it myself, not because I don't trust the installers, but because it will give me something to do.

I took my Thai GF to the US for about 6 weeks a few months ago. Because my home is close to the Mexican Border there were certain places (checkpoints) where she had to carry her passport to show to "La Migra", Customs, Homeland security, Border patrol or whatever they have morphed themselves into. O...

Talenoi, Sounds like you may have been targeted, for what I have no idea, I do not know you. But while cats can go anywhere and get food dogs can usually be limited by a fence. If someone had an idea to clean out the neighborhood more animals probably would have died. When I owned my own property an...

Muscle, after flying in those C130' s for year I'm surprised you can hear anything at all. And yes those dog collars do work, I had a mastiff once that was as dumb as a box of rocks, and the collar would give him two barks before it gave him a jolt. After awhile he was as quiet as a church mouse. I ...

I can't say that I have ever gottten into an argument, I agree with the logic that it is a lose - lose situation. But I have disagreed without raising my voice. A case in point. I bought a fax machine at Makro, it didn't work so I brought it back. I explained to the clerk that it failed to work, the...

Well Ms. xxxxx, good for you. If your relationship is what you want then you have all your stuff in one sock. Come to think of it, you have the best of all worlds. You are married to a man in farangland, where legally everything you have is jointly owned, even if you are a foreigner there you have p...

Teaching
I have encountered a fair number of teachers that insisit on teaching their students perfect, gramatically correct English. I had the occasion to follow in the footsteps of a anal English teacher that was teaching past intensive verbs when I came on board. The kids, college level, had had about 8 or...

Bud, I have never heard of an Australian Shepherd dog and I have spent a few of my 62 years on farms in Australia. Maybe you are talking about Border Collies (sheep dogs), but apart from the border collies I do not know of any long haired working dogs in Australia. My Thai landlord (ex- Sakon Nakho...

Teaching in Thailand
When I was in my 20's and 30's, I was invincible. Heck, I didn't need insurance. Then l I got married, had children, and had to get a real job and had to think about my future. Luckily, I got a job with a mandatory retirement plan. I have counseled young people, and friends, without cash resources t...

Boys, this just ain't the western world
I am disappointed at some of the responses. Thailand is a man's world. It seems some people are just ------ whipped. Now this just be someones personality, but we tote the load, pay the bills and take care of business. Women are here to take care of us, and we take care of them for it. Treat a lady ...

As a retired builder thats comes from a hot climate, I'm going to disagree with some of the advice. Putting insulation directly under the roof is of little or no value. You need to heavily insulation directly above the ceiling, on top of the drywall or whatever, and make sure that your attic space i...
