Re: ClimateGate busts things wide open

China may be building a larger "renewable" power capability but they're building lots of nuke power plants too. https://www.world-nuclear.org/information-library/country-profiles/countries-a-f/china-nuclear-power.aspx Judging from the massive improvement in Beijing's Air Quality Index they're doing ...

Re: Chinese PLAAF transport aircraft lands at 0830

the joint exercise continues.. I've seen flights of two and three Chinese PLAAF J-10's. At first I thought because of the canard stubby wings toward the front of the aircraft they might be Thai AF Saab Gripens but the large air intake on the bottom (similar to an F-16) ID's them.. https://en.wikiped...

Re: TM30 Clarification Received from Udonthani Immigration

no, the guy was standing and was getting a bit loud. The IO got a bit loud back although i thought he was being polite in outlining what the fellow had to do to fix the issue.. There were at least 10 people in the 90 day line and there's no doubt everyone heard the back and forth.. I posted the info...

Re: TM30 Clarification Received from Udonthani Immigration

did my 90 day check-in at Udon Immo today.. A fellow ahead of me in line was attempting to do a 90 day check-in and after scanning his passport the IO asked, "why is your address in Chon Buri in the computer system?" The fellow told the IO he'd been living in Udon for 2 months and needed to do his 9...

so, considering the fiasco of polling predictions in the 2016 election why does anybody place any faith in polls now?? What's changed that would restore anyone's confidence in them?

Re: Chinese PLAAF transport aircraft lands at 0830

seems we're way behind the power curve here since this evidently is the 3rd or 4th Joint Thai-Chinese military exercise held in Udon at the airbase. Most folks probably looked at the aircraft overhead and assumed they were F-16's, either Thai or the Singaporeans who often train here.. Chrome users r...

Re: Recent new Thai labour laws

Millions of Thais work and work regularly. Why shouldn't they have mandated vacation, sick leave etc? The laws are already on the books for laying someone off and the legally required payouts to the person. The problem with these laws is that your average Thai that's working isn't going to fight wit...

Re: Chinese PLAAF transport aircraft lands at 0830

no, they're already here. One of my questions probably answered. Talked to an Australian fellow I know who saw a four engined (turboprop) AWACS with rotodome. Likely a Chinese PLAAF AWACS KJ-500 built on a Russian AN-12 design (C130 lookalike).. Large transport, AWACS and some fighters exercising th...

aha! the HomePro link shows cans of paint for application with a brush versus what I've looked for there, spray cans.. I didn't look back in the section with specialty paint in cans..

Chinese PLAAF transport aircraft lands at 0830

Saw a very large transport aircraft on final approach at 0830 this morning. At first thought it was a C-17 then noticed the PLAAF flag on the tail. Joint exercises? Airfield familiarization? I wonder if the crew, like the Singaporeans will stay at the Centara Grand or live on the cheap out at the ai...

Yes, for the most part foreign embassies own the land their embassies are on as well as any other compounds associated with the embassy. For the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok they own the land the Chancery is on and across the street the compound where the old embassy and consular offices are located. The...

seeing as how the embassy doesn't do uncalled for health and welfare checks on American citizens registered in Thailand, they wouldn't have a clue if any of the registrations are even valid anymore.. I'm sure they gleaned some info from interfacing with many expat Americans at American Citizen Servi...

plenty of jackasses in the States that are irresponsible with firearms. You only need to go out into most any rural area to see road signs swiss-cheesed with bullet holes... As for defining "military grade" well it seems Lone Star is referring to a weapon with automatic firing capability, i.e. one t...
