Re: Lao Railway Progress

nope, those Nong Takai piles of rails were the old rails replaced around 2011-2013 when they put in the new concrete sleeper, new welded rails and new gravel ballast. saw a number of flatbed trucks on the east side ring road today (Wed 0527) heading north all carrying what appeared to be 25 meter Standard Gauge Railway rails. Gotta be heading to Laos.. I wonder if the bridge is open for commercial items such as those or if they're stockpiling them in a warehouse ...

our bill seemed to reflect our higher consumption during April-May billing period. So, no match with our February bill, higher by about a thousand baht.

seating arrangements interpreted differently by each restaurant.. Most are allowing 2 per table. Some say the government mandate is one per table. McDonald's in Central allows only one person per table..

Re: Any laws on dumping of construction material?

not an unusual occurrence. We have on old village water pond the Village Chief decided needed to be "filled in..." He's told construction teams they can dump construction junk on the verges of the pond and he as a tractor push it in every couple of months. It went from concrete/rock waster to gypsum...

we have a Thai family member (56) who drives a tuk-tuk.. He is illiterate and doesn't have a watch. He departs his house at 2-3AM daily heading downtown to the Temple he works for and out of.. He's never been stopped by the cops and he's been doing this throughout the entire curfew period (for years...

I don't think it slowed down the Lao section of the rail project too much. The last update I read said that since the Chinese railway workers couldn't go back to China they would continue on building. They were laying 500 meter sections of rail not too long ago. I imagine all the sleepers, rails and...
