Re: Reporting from Across the Pacific

On the positive side (r.f.a.t.p)......it's comforting to hear people like Gov Cuomo (NY) or Dr Fauci or LtGen Semonite give briefings on the status of things in the US.....as dire as they are in some places. On the negative side.......again r.t.a.t.p.......why have the numbers in Thailand not balloo...

Re: Parrot cage

The bird store in front of Bangkok Hospital has had them......and they sell African Greys from time to time......if they don't have them, I'd guess they could get one for you.
Another possibility, the big pet store on Chaemnuson Rd ห้างหุนส่วนจำกัด พี.เอ็น. แจ่มนุสรณ. near Karin Hotel.

Thursday is the day when the best Viet grocery store in the city restocks fresh veggies. Here are a few prices for those who like to complain about the cost of their favorite beverage in comparison to their home country: 1 lb frozen thai chilies: $3.79 1 qt fish sauce 2.79 Thai eggplant 1.49/lb gree...

Re: Thai Airways President Quit Because 'mission was over'

I'm overexaggerating, but the writing has been on the wall for years and years. We've known 3 families who have family members working for the airline. Family members of the workers got all sorts of freebies/bennies. Government big wigs were able to bump people at will.....elbowing their way to a se...

Reporting from Across the Pacific

So, we've been 'marooned' in Texas since mid-Feb. Our return flight in mid-May is very questionable, but too early yet to know if it'll be cancelled (ANA airline). We've been living in Thailand for 23 years.....big fans of life there. More pluses than minuses. We've taken a vacation here about 15 ti...

I take our daughter's 100lb german shepherd for a walk in different neighborhoods each morning. I spotted this in a driveway today.......definitely boomer material. We've been in Texas for a bit over a month......can't say I've spotted a scene like this on more than a handful of occasions. That said...

Re: Miscellaneous COVID-19/Corona Virus Discussion, Questions, etc.

Therre have been some interesting graphic features in the New York Times of late. One yesterday showed how the virus spread across all 50 states in the US. Today's shows how the virus spread out of Wuhan. A few interesting notes: 15,000 people from Wuhan went to Bangkok in Jan. The first known overs...

The latest from Udon.......several hours ago. Reporters from Udon Thani reported that on March 21, 2020, the Public Health Emergency Response Center in Udon Thani reported that Udon Thani has no patients with Coronary Infection 2019 or Covid-19. A total of 1,765 people have increased from yesterday,...

Re: Covit 19 in Kut Chap

So at least 10 people in a crowd of boxing enthusiasts who were probably slugging lao kao and slinging 20/100/500/1000 baht notes as the fight progressed. Those 10 (or more likely more) go home and their family members go to the market and others return to work on Monday. All of a sudden, Kud Chap i...

One of my brothers, an architect, swears by a product called copper zap that purportedly stops colds/flu germs in their tracks. One of my other brothers, a PhD in organic chemistry and now a gear head who takes joy out of making small engines out of blocks of steel, says copper is a snakeoil remedy....

I haven't seen the long lines in stores in Texas.....yet. Lots of people stocking up, and some, but few, shelves empty. the big stores like Costco and Walmart are restocking around the clock, so if a shelf is empty now, it could be restocked while you're in the store....or not. At Costco, there's an...

This explains why new diseases keep emerging from China TPpoJGYlW54 Thanks for posting that video. Re: Corona Virus / Covid important Information

As with all goverment 'edicts', we'll have to see how this plays out. For my wife and I, currently in the US and due to return in mid-May, that looks highly unlikely, versus the 50% chance I predicted just a week or so ago. 'tis a good time to dust off that plan B everyone should have in their hip p...

Re: Has anybody thought this?

sfg, just a reminder that probably only a handful of Udon restaurants, if any at all, wash dishes in hot water. From what I've read about the virus in China, people weren't spreading the virus by using reusable chopsticks or touching jars of condiments. If you're using the same restaurants I normall...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.....but am guessing that there will be a slew of other similar announcements....following the paths that other countries have taken. It's probably not of interest to most expats here, but may be of interest to those in the Ban Dung area (good news/bad...

If you're holed up at home......or planning for the inevitable 'holed up at home'.....there's not a better time to exercise the brain cells and practice learning Thai.
