Teaching in Thailand

Working for free or getting paid is the same as far as the Thai government is concerned. Even if you are working for free you are taking a job that a Thai could be doing. Unless of course you are a poor Burmese and work for peanuts for a Thai company with connections. No exceptions?? How about the ...

Perhaps there is an answer after all...

I doubt the Industrial Revolution would have occurred had people not moved closer together and bounced ideas off one another ?? That is true but since the progress of our western societies we have definately become soft and lazy. You only have to look at immigrants to the west to see that they try ...

I bet you didn't have a tourist visa when you got your yellow book? Yes I did, All I have ever had is a tourist visa. I have registered 2 big bikes, 1 750 Honda and a 2009 Harley Road individual which I still have. I leased my land in Hua Hin and had my house built. House sold now and spending more...

I bought a 2000 750 Honda 9 years ago with a tourist visa and sold it awhile back and bought a 2009 Harley Road individual also having only a tourist visa. Proper green book in my name no problem.

The danger of drink driving.

Last night a member of our Tessa Bahn team was killed in a car crash. He was only 45 and leaves a teenage child and wife behind .He was seen in our local kareoke club drinking heavily in the early evening. He left at 9pm saying he was going to Udon. As he left he was so intoxicated that many motorcy...

Astonishing arrogance behind the wheel

It does not matter where I drive, I always look 3 times each way before proceeding on a green light and I am not in a hurry to be the first one into the killing zone. I drive for a living and I have seen what happens to people that barrel off at a green light. Life is short enough, no need to make i...

Lance Armstrong. Drug cheat???

It is interesting the witch hunt for Armstrong. I think they should give the titles to the second place riders for those seven years but they know that everyone was doping and it would just start another witch hunt. By not naming a winner they are avoiding exposing everyone else even though I think ...

Something else to think about. If you bring money into Thailand and want to send it back if you sell your house the banks can refuse to send it back. This happened to me, I had all the proper documents but my bank at the last minute refused to send it back for me. It was about 8 million baht and I ...

If you mean the Ayudyha bank that was my bank who refused. It may be the law but I am telling you the truth. They would not send the money back to Canada. I had all documents required but they would not. Would this have been during the time a few years back when the BOT (?) put those ridiculous res...

You have very good points Maaka!
